Hello Everyone - looks like our rocket isn't going to get any more use this year so wondered what everyone's thoughts were on what can be done now, to ensure a trouble free spring when we get it out again?

Mine has sat in the garage for the last 3 winters with no real trouble. I use a battery maintainer and leave it plugged in all winter, but thats the only thing i do that is special. I just keep it in the garage, nice and dry, keep the battery charged and in the spring it starts on the button.
I use the winter to clean and complete maintenance tasks such as servicing. My car is currently in pieces while i complete this years winter mods. I'll post details later.
Cheers

Ta for the reply Matt.
I had heard all sorts, such as oil seals drying out on the crank and gearbox, and metal on metal contact due to no oil at all in the top of the engine upon starting etc. etc. but you've had no problems then?
BTW, is yours kept in doors? Ours is parked up out the back under a tarpaulin.

Beware of petrol going off - UL can separate and clog up the Carbs - (this might be particular solely to bikes ) , however I always was told to leave it as empty as poss to flush through ir required , blip it before turning off ignition, and or turn it over monthly.

saying that over winter with an empty tank water vapour in the damp air can condense in the tank and sink to the bottom for your pickup to find.. its part of aircraft pre flight checks to drain the bottom of the tank for water before flight. so maybe keep the fuel well shaken? or use high octane fuel.. or keep the car somewhere warm and dry.. maybe if youve got a swirl pot system turn the engine over to stir it up.

id definately put it up on axle stands... the cold deteriorates the rubber in nice toyo tyres and you can end up with flat spots and cracks.

OK, thanks for the tips guys. I think I'll leave the axle stands for now because of the kids. I'm not that keen on the proxes 4's we've got on anyway.
