I have been building an etrike for ages now, very slowly ( family and cold noghts permitting). I took these photos a while ago, it now has suspension and I am getting round to building a rear casing and the wiring fro the lights and trying to make it road legal. I have had it up and down the street. It is amazing when a 1/4 turn of the throttle is 0 - 40 mph. I can play with the ramp on the controller but it gave me a hell of a shock when i first tried it. www.flickr.com/photos/27883576@N07/3600735773/www.flickr.com/photos/27883576@N07/3600735757/

Finally got my finger out after a summer of idleness and back on the etrike. All the electrics are now complete, a bit of faring work and it will be ready for the MSVA. "It'll be all over by christmas" but they said that about the first world war. Here are some photos: Overview

Could you tell me what front suspension you use please as I am gathering the parts together to start build one of these and your suspension looks different to the one MEV use.

I had a lot of trouble getting hold of the quad bike bits. they are off a Kawasaki KLF 300 but an old version with macpherson strut type suspension. I have used poit bike back coils and dampers and bent a W shaped bit of scaffolding tube for the top mounting. the welded it all together. it sort of works but I wish i had the stuff that stuart built the original with. I changed the original setup as when I got in and accelerated the wheels toed inwards. Putting on stiff springs and mounting the shockers vertically seems to have cured it. I still have not got the ackerman right and it takes corners very strangely. It is amost ready for MSVA but it wil take a few hundred quid to hire a van take a day off work and get it up there. I want to get the suspension and alignment sorted before taking it in and this means running it about (slightly illegally).

Hey Mr. Batbuilder, Not sure if you have used Mr. Wiki, he's our friend! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_geometryYour (our) wheelbase is longer than a quad. Tried riding the trike in a circle on soft ground or grass to see how it tracks? I'm trying to get or design parts to build the rear end using a 14" car wheel. One step at a time eh? Andy
