Some of you may have seen me at the Annual meet, and seen the kit we have produced for the MX5, but for those who haven't here's the details.
We custom design big brake kits for all makes and models of cars including most Japanese marques using Wilwood, Brembo and AP Racing calipers.
After picking up my first MX5 earlier in the year we decided we'd put a couple of kits together for it, as I bought the car primarily for the track... and brakes are worth so much more on track!
The 2 kits we do are...
Cheaper budget kit:
1x pair of Wilwood 4 pot Dynalite calipers
1x pair of 280mm grooved discs
1x pair of Ferodo DS2500 pads
1x pair of custom brackets with bolts and fixings
1x pair of custom spigot rings
1x pair of custom length front braided hoses
The kit looks like this
And like this on the car (credit to Dave at Auto Solutions for the pic)
The total price for this kit is £475.00 plus shipping
The second kit is the lightweight performance kit for those who are looking for every spare gram of weight saving.
The specs are the same as the first kit, but the standard cast discs are replaced with a pair of 280mm 2 piece discs with aluminium bells.
The price on this kit is £725.00 plus shipping.
I have put this kit through it's paces on several trackdays and was amazed with the performance. not only could I outbrake pretty much everything around me, but I could keep with more powerful cars over the course of a lap due to being able to brake much later than them.
They also give a nice progressive pedal feel as well, so you dont have an on/off switch under your foot, you can trailbrake more easily without unsettling the car.
For those who are concerned with unbalancing the car with larger brakes up front and standard on the rear, I haven't found that at all, but to make sure all areas are covered, we are currently developing a bracket for the rear calipers to space it out and allow a larger diameter disc behind there.
If I can order 2 or more sets of brakes, I can offer some discount on the kits as well.
