Ok, how the hell do these things come apart?! The hub is eventually free from the top and bottom bolts, as the shaft wasn't going to come out the hub, so decided to take the hub off with CV joint attached, but take the driveshaft out of the joint instead. Now that bugger's stuck! The plan was to get the hub off and have the CV joint pressed out as it's not shifting but I'm going nowhere fast and a left arm like Popeye from all the whacking I've been doing!

If you're lucky you can take them to a shop and have them pressed out with a BIG press. However, mine wouldn't even budge on a 20 ton press. It actually started to mushroom the end of the axle...so they stopped. Apparently, this is a common problem with Miata hubs/axles. That was after they had been soaking in penetrating oil for days.
I ended up having to buy used, low mileage hubs and axles.
Good luck!

Oh. Awesome Thanks for that. I guess I'll ping it out of the diff and see what the machine shop think.
