Had my IVA re-test today at 1.30 at Chadderton. Had to resolve a handful of items following the first test on 14th June - none of which I would quibble with. Seem a very fair-minded bunch of inspectors :-). Re-test amounted to checking the outstanding items - I gave the inspector a copy of the original fail form annotated with my resolutions....he was very happy with that! 20 mins later....a successful pass!
Called at DVLA with all my paperwork on the way back home, and have managed to blag an inspection next Wednesday at 12.20.
40 minute drive to Chadderton thru the centre of Manchester was great...but I can't wait to get on proper roads now! :-)

Helpful as VOSA are, they are completely overshadowed by the unhelpfulness exhibited by DVLA! I ended up having to spell out to the inspector that it was a kit conversion (and therefore only 2 major components for an age related plate...) rather than a radically altered vehicle, where the "points" system comes into play. I was initially told it would take 2 weeks for my tax disc to be issued following the inspection . Managed to get them to agree to call me today / tomorrow (inspection last Weds). Also, I've purchased a plate for the car from DVLA, and despite providing all the paperwork for the new number, they have registered it using an age related plate - a decision from Swansea apparently. When I get the V5 through I have to submit it to get the number changed. Anyway - I do now have a tax disc, and "paper" number plates sellotaped over the ones I've bought. Street legal at last! I'd recommend that you do your homework before contacting DVLA....and be prepared to stand your ground! For many offices I guess a kit car is an unusual event, and they need guidance!! Martin
