Wow, I guess 200bhp was not enough.
i wander if it will be as fast as my 1.6?
Good work, I'd love to see it on track some time, are you going to the AMM, or what about Llandow in September with CKC?
Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt
Yes, you can never have too much power! Also I plan to enter a few hillclimbs at some point this year or next so wanted to tweek as much as I can.
Not sure I am going to make it this year. The business is really taking off so am working a lot and any days off are spent promoting at various car shows here! But ckc day is def one I want to do at some point.
As a result of work it's also been a bit slow progress on the engine! I got her in the car last night so today will be spent doing the electrics, water hoses and fitting the electric water pump. I gave also had to get a bracket made for my alternator. I will post details of this soon for anyone thinking of fitting a smaller alternator. Mine is tiny and saves a few kg of weight. I think it was from a Suzuki or daewoo or similar.
Once all that's done it's fill with fluids then turn over on the starter motor without plugs to bring up to oil pressure and then it's time for the first oil and filter change! Then I can fire the engine and bring up to temperature. Then it's time for the second oil and filter change!
More updates to follow!

Exciting times Tim...look forward to seeing it later this year.
Whats the output on your Alternator? I'm in the process of fitting one to clear throttle bodies but the output is only 35amp...not sure if this will be enough for 'night work' ;D

The alternator i have is 40amp. See pic below of the box with part number and the vehicles it was from. I bought the bracket from Raceline but had to modify it to get the alternator to fit. This included cutting off and re-welding one of the lugs, spacing out from the block with washers (i will eventually get round to getting some nice spacers made up!), and making an adjustable bracket as the one in the kit was too short. As you can see from the following pics you now only need a small aux belt which should free up some power. The smaller alternator also saves a lot of weight and thankfully just clears my oil sandwich plate! I think 35-40 ams should be ok for night work. After-all there is not that many electrics in the car. on another note my jenvy throttle bodies easly cleared the standard alternator.
