Take your time searching for a proper donorbike.
Biking season has just started. Availability of crashed bikes will follow. I have choosen to buy a desent bike 35kkm with lots of good parts that, I expect, will sell good.

Be careful what you buy, I bought an R1 that apprently was in great condition but when it was stripped for all the parts I needed I found all sorts and the seller had mainly thrown a bike together. I pray the engine is in working order, I have heard it run and hope it will be okay, but the rest of the bike was scrap pretty much, I suppose the price should have alerted me, but with nobody to ask I bit the bullet and bought it.
When I bought it this year there were still a few nice ones for sale with about 20K on them going for between £1500 and £1800 the cheaper was a streetfighter and the other was a nice clean bike taxed and tested, in hindsight I would have bought the one at £1800, but its too late now :-)

defo don't rush into buying the first one you see, there is a white one on eBay NOW at £975 BUY IT NOW, with some bullshit story as to why its being sold without a frame.... Steer clear of anything cheap, if its cheap, its crap, or stolen, or just crap....
You would look at paying somewhere in the region of £1500 for a 1999 model as a streetfighter with maybe 20-25K on the clock, and maybe £2200 for a 2000-2001 with maybe 20K on clock and full fairing in good order with tax n test I reckon.
I think its maybe the wrong time to look as the weather is so nice, all bikes are slowly getting MOT'd for the 1 week of heatwave we get :-)

theres a couple on biketrader floating around the £2000 mark with reasonable mileage. Realistically could u recoup £1000 back in part sales or possibly more? the only other thoughts ive had is sourcing a decent engine and buying a cheap donor. The only thing that worries me is buying a shagged out bike thats needs engine work. Im a car mechanic by trade but have little experience with bikes and bike engines.
