Hi All Well the postmortem has been done on the failed attempt at going to Bring Them Home Day on Friday. Basically the voltage regulator in the alternator failed and over charged the battery which sprayed acid all over the corner of the engine bay. I have ordered a new alternator that should be here on Wednesday. Got another new Battery as the new one that was in the car is now f----d due to a reconditioned Alternator that is only 13 month's old and has only done 237 miles . Cleaned the area around the battery tray with boiling water ready to put it all back together when new alternator arrives. I hope that it has not done any other damage to the electrics like the ECU. Will update on progress on Wednesday. On a happier note it looks like you all had a good day a Saturday. Some fantastic photo's & video's have been posted. You all know how to make a bad day even worse by showing me how much fun we missed Looking forward to next year already. Cheers Andy

Hi All Well I got the new alternator and battery fitted today and the car started up ok. I have put a question in the tec section if you could all have a look. Thought it was all ok till I had a check of the lights and found out that the hazards don't work and the fog light is on all the time that the head lights are on. It is the MEV dash that I have fitted to my car so if anyone has any idea or has had this problem let me know. Cheers Andy

Hi Ned
I have looked at that site a few times to. I even seen you where selling your Focus parts on it the other week. When I get the Sonic back on the road I might look at going to some of the meetings if your interested.
How are things going with your Rocket.

Not heard for RTR yet but Mark's rocket is being IVA'd on Tue and Kev's has just been done so VOSA seem to have their act together with processing the paper work. Hopefully in a few weeks.
They are having a run out on the 8th of September, looks like quite a long one, weather forcast looks good.
Ned.

Hi Ned
I seen the trip planned for 8th. I don't know if the sonic will be back on the road for then. It depends on how long it takes Stuart to get the dash repaired and back to me. (on pressure Stuart0. It would only take half hour to put it back together. It would be a good test run for it. It would also be good to meet other kit car builders and show off the MEV brand.

Hi All
Just got a PM from Stuart to let me know that my dash for the Sonic7 has been posted today just in time as I have a long week end off work to get it back together and have some fun over the weekend.(Weather permitting). Thank for the quick repair and turnaround Stuart. Usual top class service from the MEV Team.

Hi Ned
Yes been out for a spin in it to day. The dash is back in and working fine. I have also fitted a volt meter to the car to keep an eye on the charging problem that started the all the damage. Still not got a defined answer to what the max voltage it should be charging at. My sonic7 is charging at about 14.8 volts which I think is quite high. On the internet one site said it should be between 13.2 and 14.8 volts. How are you getting on on your wee trip to the USA.
