Good Morning,
I wondered after various articles I read in Kitcar Magazine what states if my trike is registered with a Q plate over a age related or new plate?
If the only part that is second hand is the engine, swingarm and rear wheel, does my tR1ke qualify for an age related plate so for instance 2011 / 2012 depending on start of the build?
I ask because I would hope to be able to fit a private plate eventually on it and know that a Q plate stops all this.
Cheers

The ones rtr have put through the DVLA have been on new plates! my understanding is every trike will be looked at individually, but if parts have been reconditioned they are seen as new! what you define as reconditioned is the question . I’m hoping to get it on new plates, i bought a second hand reconditioned swing arm etc with a receipt, and i have reconditioned the engine myself (basic service)! but will have to see if they agree

I had a brief from Paul at RTR on Friday when I ordered my rocket, he informed me that as long as either the engine or gearbox are new (On a Rocket that is) then the kit could be registered as new. Also all donor parts that are used should be cleaned up so they look new/reconditioned. I take it that this would also go for the Trike.

Its not really to do with IVA or MSVA its the DVLA when you register it after the test once you have the MAC Certificate,,
As far as i know it works the same for cars and trikes etc, for new Reg you need all new parts and 1 major component can be reconditioned, IE engine normally proof will need to be provided, and proof of new parts used receipts etc,,
Our Eco-Exo which is built from used Scooter donor has no major new parts therefore i supplied the old V5 log book for the donor and it was given a age related plate,,
hope this helps

Cheers for the replies guys, Apart from the swingarm, wheel and engine all parts will be new, will have to call in a favour to get a receipt for a refurb engine me thinks.
As long as I get an Age related plate at worst and not a Q ;D
