Where are all the Exocet builders and owners?

Hi all,

New here and it is already proving a great source of information for my newly acquired, unfinished project.

However, there seem to be very few active users, unfortunately.

From chatting to a couple of people at Malvern a couple of weeks ago the perceived wisdom is that 'everbody' uses (anti-)social media like faceache. As you can tell, I'm not a fan of that, never being able to find the same thing twice on that platform. It does seem to be an information black-hole to be asking questions on.
I like forums - they persist so you can look up answers to questions that have already been asked and so avoid annoying other users with the same questions over and over again!

But I will give FB the benefit of the doubt as maybe I haven't found the builders group(s), only the trackday crowd.
Can anybody tell me where the Exocet builders action is on Facebook?

And to the lovely moderators and admins of this site - I'll be staying here. There's simply too much info here not to!

Ah ha, you've come out of the woodwork the man who outbid me, only joking, you did outbid me but glad it's ended up at a good home, anybody who hates faecesbook as me must be good, there appears now to be 2 UK Exocet FB groups now www.facebook.com/groups/1436641923014209/ & www.facebook.com/groups/1317594731699309/ I'm not a member of either, although I also don't have an Exocet but have built 2 of them in the last 2 years.

I like forums as well, as you can find information & the same question doesn't get asked 50 times a week because the useless search function doesn't purposely work. It is good for instant gratification if you need the answer NOW!! as there is usually somebody who hasn't got anything better to do with their life will answer quickly, with probably the answer to a question you didn't ask. So if you do have a little patience you will get your answer here & in all chances the correct one, but it might be a few hours later.

I guess if I beat an expert to mine I must have overpaid for it! Oh well...
I stuck my bid in at a level I could afford and if it was 'meant to be' I would get it.

It's a lot less than a new kit and includes many of the oily bits. It has the VVT that I was hoping for too. I'm not interested in forced induction - just the fastest stock normally-aspirated one I can afford.
The other big attraction is the subframes and wishbones look surprisingly non-rusty. Some build thread pictures have horrendous looking ones.

I even prefer the earlier nose and bonnet arrangement over the current single piece one. Should make putting a bulge in the bonnet to clear the VVT valve easier, should that prove necessary!

You haven't overpaid if you're intending to keep it, I would have only got it through the IVA test & then sold it on, so getting it as cheap as possible is key. I also do as you do/did, put the bid in early at my comfortable level & walk away, you also got it for less than the seller paid & he also got it running for you.

Enjoy the build & don't fret about the IVA, it's something to be enjoyed & not feared.

We almost bid for that one too, twice but decided it wasn't quite what we wanted on our next Exocet. Glad it has gone to a good home.
FB is where it's at unfortunately, this is rarely used but is easier to search things in, mark pages for later and there are entire build blogs here too. Maybe too many - we spent months reading others and didn't actually do any of it to our car

There's a new 2 piece Bonnet now, we've ordered our new kit with one, so will see hoe that looks nearer the time but pictures look encouraging.

There are still a few of us on here that respond to updates and questions so by all means keep them coming.
