The CKC days are one of the best track days of the year, and well worth the £99 or £75 quid costs (depending on CKC membership) I will certainly go, and recommend them as a great day out with your car. more details can be found www.completekitcar.co.uk/ckcomex.htmlThe Bristol kit car club has started a thread to camp over on the Friday night at the camp site that is right next door to the track. the camp site details can be found www.llandowcaravanpark.com/location_beaches.htmlSo can i push this event one more time please. A great days track action and perhaps a social evening the night before at the campsite for any MOGGER willing to cross the border into Wales Cheers Mattsmev

Check out my previous video on the circuit to get a feel of what to expect:- Will try to make this one but currently got other commitments for that date. nigel

A great day out, but spoiled by a broken engine mount and shedding a drive shaft twice
Home safe and sound, Dragon Rescue picked me up on the Super Flat Loader and took me to my door. My wife had towed me to the A48 because I thought getting my road side recovery people out for a track incident might be difficult. I thought I was so cunning, but when the chap turned up with the lorry his first words were 'have you been racing at Llandow then', so much for my clever scheme. He said they would have happily picked me up from the circuit as long as the car is road registered, so next time I wont bother towing away from the circuit.
I was really pleased with the running I did get, the set up work by track developments made a difference, especially at the bottom end of the circuit,
I received so much help from others to fix my drive shaft, particularly Ian and John, two MEV owners who mysteriously appeared when i needed them most. I felt really upset when the repaired item broke as well, All because the engine mount had broken and thats what caused the problem. I guess my highlights of the day were the offer of a spare drive shaft from IAN a fellow MEV owner and the friendly stop from 4 BKCC members on the way home to make sure all was well.
So despite the day not being a success from a track driving point of view, it was still a good day. Thanks to every one who has been part of it.

Glad the hear you got back ok. It's a shame about the engine mount when we thought all was repaired. I think my rocket was getting nervous realising it was a possible source of spares.

Hi Matt, glad to hear you got both got home ok. After all that effort it was a shame about the "Yes we fixed it!" then the "Oh dear, we didn't" but never mind, you got home safe and sound, and it's another interesting story to tell the rest of the guys. At least now that the car is back in the garage it is a relatively easy fix. It was a good day out and look forward to seeing you next time. Regards, Jon.

Hi Mattsmev, Im glad to hear you got back safe and sound! roadside recovery was a must when I sorted out my Rocket insurance - only because I knew the person who put it together One question - was the broken engine mount in question the PITA oil (but now polyurethane) filled one? Cheers, Ol

Sorry to hear your engine mount kurtailed the day's fun and glad to hear that others were on hand to help.
Maybe it's time for some of these...
Vibra Technics prices
LEFT HAND SIDE (G/BOX) MOUNT FAST ROAD £150.00
LEFT HAND SIDE (G/BOX) MOUNT COMP £157.50
RHS ENG MOUNT FAST ROAD £117.60
RHS ENG MOUNT COMP £129.36
TORQUE LINK COMPLETE FAST ROAD £102.00
TORQUE LINK COMPLETE COMP £107.10
We are mightily impressed by the quality of the Vibra Technics parts and it's quite amazing to see how different power delivery is. We have the competition mounts on our track car yet they transmit very little in terms of vibration through the car.
We do try to keep a set in stock but they are proving to be quite popular.

I won't go into the details - but the actual engine mount strength was not the issue, so tougher rubber etc would not have helped in this case. If it was that easy I would have replaced it with the engine mount I had at home. Should all be sorted better than ever now he has it home, and back on the road in no time.

hello everyone Sunday was very busy in Chez Wingrave so nothing sone to the car, but tonight I have looked at the damage the torsion engine mount was fine, its the bit that connects that to the engine that failed I have not been to a Ford garage to see how much a new one is or even thought about the hassle of digging one out of a scrap yard. Does any one have a spare one, this connects the IB5 to the engine mount so it may be the same on a 1.8 as well as the 1.6, I am not sure the part number is 98AB-6PO93-CFDO4YA I may also look at fabricating something out of rose joints, to see how I go. I'll post some more pictures in a little while Cheers Mattsmev

Well here are the pictures of Llandow from my perspective being helped to get the $odding circlip off the end of the drive shaft Feeling really pleased that the efforts of Ian, John and others had been rewarded with an effective repair after failing to notice that the cause of the problem was a broken engine mount, it happened again, so i came home on a lorry despite only getting two runs and pratting about most of the afternoon with repairs I still had a great day. What made it so good was the help I received from fellow Moggers. Just as the car broke Ian and John turned up in their MEVs and mucked in to help. Ian was a star, he provided spare parts and lots of other help (I still owe money), John and Paul were very patient with a certain circlip. It was kit car ownership at its very best, help in a time of need. Thanks to everyone for their help, the car was so nearly back on the road for the afternoon but more work is needed. I'll repeat my request for spares in the wanted section to see if anyone has a spare mount. I am sure it will be back on the road for my road trip to Le Mans Cheers Mattsmev

Hi Scott
It would be great if you had one. I wont be fitting it until next week as I am busy this weekend. But I do need to get it fitted before I go to Le Mans in early June. If I don't have a solution by then Mrs Mattsmev's Focus may pay the ultimate price...
PM me if you find one, I would certainly appreciate it
Cheers

Bingo Bango Baby,,, I have found it,, even the numbers are the same off our 1.6 Build, But ours didnt line up so i had to build another one,, Looks like yours was a case of loose bolt which caused it to fail, but while you have the old one it might be worth building your own like i did with 2-3 lengths of 25 x 5mm flat bent and drilled and finally welded up together,,, you can just about see it here I cant find your address Matt, pm it to me and i will send it down to you Cheers Scott

Coolio!! it sounds like you've got everything covered now Mattsmev!! A broken torque mount bracket wouldn't have been my first guess if I was asked which mount was likely to go... but I guess that's just the way it goes... like Scott says... it looks as if the bolts have loosened up a little, I'll be double checking mine me thinks!...
Glad you're sorted!
Cheers, Ol
