MEV Owners Fun Day - 11th Annual Meet 08/05/23
After its demise for the last few, we're relaunching again!
The Format will be similar to how it was run before, with a few organisational tweaks and hopefully a few fun activities trackside to entertain the whole family. The price for the circuit has unfortunately increased, but not by a huge amount, but it has been decided to maintain the same prices as the last event in 2019 just to cover the costs.
(Now that's unheard of today!)
So its 1 car only on track at all times
Sprint Course layout 1 in morning
Sprint Course layout 2 afternoon.
Open figure of 8 to finish (several laps each to give everyone a chance)
Marshalls will be volunteers so be patient and courteous and if you would be willing to help out for an hour during the day it would be most appreciated. Contact me (Neil Webb) to be included. It won't be hard work, nor will any skill set be required other than eyes, ears, voice arms & legs (in any amount to be inclusive LOL). Ability to read optional.
The Date: Bank Holiday Monday 8th May - 8:30am to 4:30pm
The Venue: Curborough Sprint Course www.curborough.co.uk
The Deal: All day hooning around a dedicated sprint track with no other cars to hold you up or get in your way.
The Cost: 1st Driver £50.00. Additional Drivers £25.00. Passengers £5.00. Spectators £0.00!! (Yes, free)
The Format: Turn up, have a briefing, sign a disclaimer, jump in your car and go do some runs.
This isn't a track or race day, so we run the day as a "1 off, 1 on" format. As soon as the last person leaves the track, the next person starts.
This gives everyone plenty of time to show their skills of nailing the apexes or how long they can wheel spin, it's up to you. Once you've done your hot lap, come on in, join the back of the queue and go again!
0-60 challenge: Who has the quickest car? During the lunch break we will be running a competition to see who tops the leader board... the winners will get a special prize!
Show and Shine: Who's gone that extra mile? Who's spent more time polishing their car than driving? This most coveted award will be judged by a special guest.
Camping: It wouldn't be a meeting without this! The site will be open from 5pm on Sunday evening for anyone wishing to make it more of an event. There will be a marquee to shelter in and I'm sure the beer will be flowing and burnt burgers available.
Food: There will be an onsite cafe open from 9am for food and drinks, and we expect the Ice Cream van to make an appearance. Picnics are encouraged, just not on the track!
Extras: We're hoping to organise: Photographer to catch all the action.
Complete Kitcar Magazine photographer/reporter.
Tuition from our in-house team of real life racing drivers will be available free of charge. They'll sit with you for a couple of runs and give you some pointers. Just grab them when they're not busy.
So trackside entertainment is not confirmed, but this is what I'm thinking.....
Something for both kids and adults to participate in obviously gender neutral (especially for Duncan Forde) inflatable slide, bungee run and assault course?
Other Info: All MEV owners/builders are welcome, together with anyone who has a desire to come watch, passenger ride potential purchasers, etc. (FREE entry for spectators - but why not join in) Whatever you drive here in, track time is only available for MEVs, so don't bring the family barge along hoping for some track action. If your car can be driven, it should be OK on the track. So part finished projects, non passed IVA cars are welcome (subject to a once over from the organisers & the 105dBa static noise limit)
The boring stuff: As this event takes place on track, there are some rules we need to abide by.
Before using the circuit all participants will be required to:
1. Sign two Indemnity forms
. This means if you have an off, you've only got yourself to blame
2. Provide a full driving licence
. In date please, and in your name
3. Be physically fit
. Driving fast puts extra stresses on your body, just ask Lewis Hamilton
4. Be a competent driver
. You've managed to build a car, we hope you can drive it
5. Wear an approved helmet. Arms and legs must be covered at all times
. Under no circumstances should you wear a mankini
6. Attend the Circuit Safety Briefing. The REALLY boring part. Make sure you've got a coffee in you before hand.
7. NO DRIFTING or DOUGHNUTS - sorry their rules
8. No vehicles with anti-lag devices fitted.
9. Passengers must be 14 or over. No upper limit
Ok. I'm sold. Where do I sign?
