Hey guys. Does the Battery have to be in a box to protect it from the elements? Or is it ok clamped down to the floor behind passenger seat open to the elements?
Cheers

It is ok clamped down and without a cover. However I would hesitate to mount it on the floor unless you have added extra rivets, as its alot of weight banging up and down, which another guy mentioned popped out a couple of rivets.
I added couple of steel angle bars across the gap behind the seat and mounted battery on them.
Also I bought a cheap plastic cover as it is really open to the elements, even behind the seats,
Cheers

The first time I made a steel box for it, heavy and ugly.
This time I made a little quilted leather 'jacket' (looks better than a Halfords battery) but otherwise it's just clamped through the floor, with a mild steel bar on the underneath which is then bolted to the frame using a threaded insert. Basic requirements are that it is secure, obviously you'll have terminal covers too (cheap universal eBay ones will do).
