Hi from Glasgow.
Just picked up my donor (2004 Mk2.5 1.8) last week and plan a leisurely strip down over the next month or so.
Dont intend to order an Exocet Kit until I've got a handle on what I'm dealing with under the rusty body shell probably some time in Autumn all being well.
I've tinkered about with bikes and cars over the years but never tackled anything like this.
Any help / suggestions will be appreciated.
David

I'm in Newton Mearns so just about as far away from Kirkintilloch as you can get within the Glasgow area!
Good to know that someone has 'been there and done that' relatively close by.

Welcome David! I’d recommend getting the Rod Grainger MX5 manual and downloading the build manual for starters. The MX5 strip down is very straight forward. Make sure you label everything from the loom, and don’t think about chopping it back until your Exocet is at least running, as you’ll probably find you’ll chop something you later need. If you’re going to the lengths of removing the driveshafts (not really needed but some do) make sure you crack the hub nuts while the car still has working brakes. I know Glasgow’s not exactly local to Curborough, but if you’re free the weekend of the 13th, there’s the MEV Summer Fun day which is free to attend. There’s going to be a good selection of Exocets there to cast your eyes over and quiz the owners with any questions you might have. There’s always a good chance of a passenger ride!

Hi David, I’m in East Kilbride so a lot closer to Newton Mearns.
I built a Replicar but much the same as Exocet with exception of the panels.
Happy to help with any questions or even special tools like hub nut sockets.
I’ll PM you with my mobile.
Cheers
Scott
