Hi all,
Just got my self a rocket, want some very good tyres on it. Could anyone recommend some tyres for a 17inch wheel. Not bothered about price, just want bed all round grip. At the moment have ns2r and they won’t get hot enough to grip. Also not good in damp days.
Thanks Sean

The Nankang NS2R's are technically a Motorsport Tyre and as such need to "Work" them to get them to temperature and grip. nankangtyre.co.uk/performance/motorsportWe used to Race with them and have moved over to the Nankang AR1 (Better grip for us) but would be worse for you, however we also use the Nankang NS20's (Performance Tyre) as our Wet Tyre and these do grip well and work well in the wet.. nankangtyre.co.uk/performance/ns-20Worth a look as they are great value for money.

I had to widen my wings to get 205s under without rub, I reckon 215s would be a challenge without modification.

I think your main question needs more information, critically what type of driving do you intend to do?
Long steady cruising on main roads? Short sprints and hillclimbs? Trackdays/track races?
I use Dunlop DZ03G for races but it comes in different compounds for different types of driving.
I have the softest compound for sprints and hillclimbs.
For open road cruising I would not pick that compound but might still pick the tyre.

Mostly fast road, just driving around the streets. Odd little blast on the dual carriageway and roundabouts. Mainly road use to be honest.
A lot of people on Facebook have said rain sport 3 Uniroyal ?

Don’t own a Rocket but have ran Falken tyre (various compounds) on my cars over the years.
Not the final words in refinement regards road noise but doubt you worry about that in a Rocket.
Always found them very good for precise steering and very stable under braking. Also good value compared to some premium brands and often score high in independent tyre tests.
If budget is no issue then think also about weight, you could see 0.5kg or more difference between tyres which is all unsprung weight.

Thanks for your input, if budget is no option then what would u suggest ? I want a soft grippy tyre. Not bothered if it will last 2 months or 2 years.

Hi. I run yokohama perada's on my rocket, great all round tyre. I have 205's on the front and 215's on the rear without any modification. John.

You have a really open remit here.
You don't care what the cost is.
You don't care what the life is.
You want super grip but are not driving anywhere where this is going to fully utalised.
I think you need to identify exactly what you are trying to acheive THEN look for recommendations.
