Hi,
My name is Brad and I’m from Melbourne. I don’t have the ideal background for building a kit car but thankfully have a few friends I might be able to call on.
My replicar kit has arrived from the UK now and hopefully will be able to build it and get it road registered over the next couple of years.
I’d be keen on knowing if anyone else from Australia has tried one of the MEV kits yet.
Cheers
Brad

Hi Brad, Bruce from Perth... I bought a kit from Southam Engineering in Perth. Terry was the importer BUT he was only importing the body stuff as the frames appear to be built in Perth. The 65kg UK frame of the Sonic 7 appears a fair way under the requirements of WA DOT requirements for torsional rotation and therefore the WA frame is in the order of 105kg although that was a quote from another Aussie builder. I have not weighed mine... yet... There appears to be a better chance of getting a rocket licensed 'out of the box'. I see you have purchased a replicar. My kit was an early frame that he was using for testing a few different engine locations and was not supplied with any aluminium panels or pipes... I am still waiting for a few more bits like bushes, rod ends, upright bearing supports, and also my HE 2.0 engine doesn't fit in the frame where the the current supports are located... I just read that a number of MEV builders are well into their second year... I am trying to calm down my frustration of getting hampered by the Christmas shutdown of the 'car type shops' after 20 days... Taking a few breaths and now pacing my self. Chat soon. Bruce
