Hi Everyone! Soooooo close to booking the IVA, just need to do a little more trimming when it arrives (so far ive used 15 meters and still ran out) I have searched the forum and read the IVA manual over and over. Does anyone have any last minute tips/tricks/advice? Just want to make sure I have covered as much as I can (literally and figuratively) Im taking a risk on the wing mirrors as Im using them as side repeaters also, I cannot see any reason for them to fail as side repeaters, I have measured 43cm out from the mirror/indicators and then 5m back and at no point can you not see the lights flashing, and there is no blind spot from 5-60 degrees  I know this will cause controversy, but i cannot see any reason in the manual for these to fail. Any and all advice/experience welcome  I will upload photos when I have finished trimming. I have so far: * Covered as many nuts as i can get to with dome nut covers * Will finish trimming all 2.5mm edges I can find outside the car and will also do what i can in foot wells/pedal assmbley just to be sure * Ordered an engraved placque with MEV LTD and the chassis number underneath (also removed paint from welded on chassis number) * Made sure all cables are neat and secure and where possible covered in conduit * No kinks in brake line, flexi brake line doesn't catch on full lock (brakes seem to work well) * Adjusted cluster to ensure good view through steering wheel * No major rattles/knocks when driving, will be putting a thin layer of foam in the electrical tray where all the wires are sittings as I am still getting a few anoying rattles/vibrations from the cable in the ally tray. * Adjusted Handbrake and holds well * All lights work * Horn works * DOT 4 sticker within 100mm of brake cylinder * I have pictures of the Fuel filler hose and deceleration from CBS showing it is correct also have pictures of the fuel pipe showing it meets standards. Cant think of anything else right now |

Why try to IVA without side repeaters?
The manual makes it clear that you need ind's and sides repeaters. At no point does it say that one can perform 2 roles.
From the manual:
On each side
Front – One
Rear – One
Side Repeater– One

Side Repeater– OneThe wing mirrors are acting as side repeaters. The front indicators are fitted to the side of the headlights The rear indicators are in the rectangle cluster (LED's supplied by you) which are fitted in the rear arches   |

1. You are allowed to fit 2 sets of indicators but all must comply with positional requirements.
2. Check visibility of the side lights when viewed from the opposite side to which they are fitted.
3. I think you need to raise the lights on L shaped brackets.
4. You need an interior mirror.
5. Nuts caps on top of shock bolts.
6. Maybe a rubber to cover end of rear chassis tubes.
7. Probably a closing plate (plastic) to stop examiner touching side of pedals with his 100 mm ball.

Just a thought; have you checked that those wing mirrors are large enough? The IVA requirement is quite large, and most of the non-rectangular ones I've seen aren't large enough to pass..

The IVA requirement is quite large, and most of the non-rectangular ones I've seen aren't large enough to pass.. good point but I think they will be OK, there is a section in the manual where by they test with a rectangle, to be sure you cancut one out of card and try it on. |

Which lights do you mean regarding point 3, I'm using the supplied headlights fitted to the chassis where the mounting point is, is it a different light your talking about? What would you recommend for the rubber cover for point 6 as I did think that would fail. Also, how would you suggest I deal with the bottom of the side panels where they meet the ally floor, as they are pretty sharp!? Thanks |

Maybe glue on a rubber disc that is slightly larger in diameter than the tube end. This will stop the 100 mm ball touching the corner of the chassis tube. Bottom edge of your side panel, a file will take the edge off. |

Headlights will definitely fail as done - I originally did mine exactly the same but need to check angles of view from 'opposite' side. Needed to make a bracket and turn them through 90deg so indicator sits on top of headlight. Looks worse but will pass.
Just applied for my IVA and test in three weeks so worth getting the paperwork in and approved and booked as there is a waiting list. Still gives plenty of time for 'minor' adjustments - I'm still finding bits to cover!
One last thing I have to do is manufacturers plate and brake fluid sticker - how / where did you place yours? |

One last thing I have to do is manufacturers plate and brake fluid sticker - how / where did you place yours? I must admit I have never seen anyone orientate the headlight with the indicators on the top? However I will still check the viewing angles. I am going to pop rivet the manufacturers plate on the chassis next to he welded on plate. (just waiting for it to arrive) Brake fluid sticker can be anywhere within 100mm of the brake reservoir, mine is on the brake servo. Others have also placed it here I believe. |

No me neither, but I had already drilled them onto the headlight and fixed same as your set up and didn't want to leave a hole. Agree they look strange, but comply with the regs for distance and angle so can't be any complaints.
The servo was the only fixable point I could see within the 100mm but the position doesn't make viewing that good. Does that matter - a picture would help please. I was thinking of making the manufacturer plate bigger to accommodate the sticker as well but it sort of makes for a protruding bit of ally I could do without. Hence why it hasn't been done yet!!
