I thought that someone here might be interested. There is a damaged Trike for sale on the Motorhog salvage auction site. The frame is to be destroyed, but from the look of it and from discussion with the yard manager, just about all that would be needed to get it running again would be a frame, a mudguard and a rad. This might be an absolute bargain for someone! Be quick, it ends tomorrow. If someone is seriously interested, but is not registered to bid, contact me. auctions.motorhog.co.uk/vehicle-list/details/528164

A new chassis is available from Exo Sports Cars for £2500 plus VAT. The issue here is that it would need rebuilding and then an MSVA so it would need to be very very cheap to be worth doing. It is a CAT B, this means breaker, no V5. caveat emptor (buyer beware) Only worth a bag o sand IMO The GRP is damaged, no doubt the bones and wing stays are too.

Yes, it's a CAT B and therefore no V5, so some careful thought would be needed for MSVA of the new Trike.
It is, however, a completed car/big pile of parts to rebuild from. It was MSVA'd and registered and it runs, the loom is sorted and the electrics work. The breaker is going to chop the frame in the middle to comply with his legal responsibilities, but the front and rear ends will be left assembled. Building that lot onto a new frame would be rather a lot more straightforward than building from scratch.
The GRP bonnet was not fitted when it was crashed. The yard owner bought it from the owner whose friend wrote it off while it was parked at his house without the bonnet, so if it's damaged, it's not accident damaged.
It is likely to sell for a lot less than a decent donor R1 and there are a lot of parts there that don't come on an R1!
Tatty and leggy R1s with blown engines or gearboxes (common) are cheap. The route to MSVA is not insurmountable.
Having said all this, I think that the ZX10 Rocket advertised here is likely to be a much better project.

Well, I don't know how many bags o sand you'd get for what it sold for: £820 + VAT and hammer fee, so about £1100.
I think that was cheap...and I regret not buying it, even if only as a spare motor to my Riot. I think the new owner could build a road legal Trike for £5000, less if they are lucky and careful...and it would be so easy. I hope it gets rebuilt.

bang on the money I would say, it sold for "a bag o sand" (a grand) plus fee. Interesting how it is stated that it crashed without the bonnet fitted, why would anyone drive at a speed high enough to demolish the chassis with the body removed? Why would a yard owner buy the bonnet from the owner? A CAT B insurance write off becomes the property of the insurer not the insured, but then it says it was friend who wrote it off, maybe he was not insured. It also said above that the owners friend wrote it off whilst it was parked up on his drive. Did he pick up a tree and hit it with a 70 mph blow? Hopefully the yard owner cuts the chassis up to ensure it does not get repaired.
Guess we will all pay out for it as premiums get increased due to claims being made.

Haha...and I was born in Hackney! Oh well. Well done. I still think it was cheap - it's not an Exocet where donor parts are cheap and plentiful.
I chatted to the yard manager. The owner had stored his Trike at a friend's place, without the nose cone. Said 'friend' took it out for a spin. It was subject to an insurance payout and was consequently written off. The yard manager told me that he thought the car would be worth more complete - I've no idea why he had to pay for it.
The car is in Northern Ireland at the moment. It will be cut and transported to their Lincolnshire yard, unless it sold locally.
