I've read through the helmet threads but it's not clear to me if they are mainly for track use or if owners recommend them for road use as well ? E.g. With just safety glasses are you in too much risk of a bug strike/stone strike ? Thanks

We pretty much always wear helmets in the Sonic. Perhaps the very occasional, very short trip around very local roads wearing protective glasses of some sort.....but any serious miles / roads, then always a helmet. There is no windscreen protection for stones or suchlike to bounce off; just not worth taking the risk in my opinion. Plus, with helmets and an intercom, you can actually talk to a passenger, listen to music, and get satnav instructions! Martin

In the last 6 months, our new car has had one full replacement screen from a large stone thrown up by a lorry on the A50, and now has two further chips from stone strikes loud enough to make me duck on impact! I'll be wearing a helmet.

I had some very kind people throw a paper mcdonalds cup "full" of drink and ice at me in my rocket - I have no windscreen, it hit me straight in visor. I was doing 60ish they would be doing the same - they were travelling opposite direction. Broke visor right off, luckily I wear glasses too which the cup pushed around my eye and left a very nasty/nice bruise.
Hate to think if I hadn't had helmet on take some/most of the force out of it. Agree with Martin, always helmet unless your nipping about town on 30/40 mph roads.

I wear this when not on a track, keeps the flies and stones out of the face, helmet is essential if doing anything that might raise a pulse of course 😈 Look at this on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152559501373
