The reason for such unusual cargo was that despite offering to pay £50 and many calls to various scrap metal and recyclers plus the usual ebay/gumtree I got limited interest. Got messed about for a month by one guy who promised to come every couple of days.

Needless to say the promised collection never occurred and I happened to be in Screwfix that day when they had a Recip Saw on clearance (£28+£5 of blades), so in a hacked off mood I set about the shell with my new toy. The result below was about three hours work and just two metal blades. Another four hours at the weekend and 3 trips to the local council recycling centre and problem solved.

Knife through butter springs to mind, even the reinforcement rails and bulkhead stood no chance.

Thoroughly recommend it, especially if you have had a bad day at work.

Did the same to mine but with a 4.5"angle grinder, can thoroughly recommend Toolstation Rhodius cutting discs - last twice as long as any other brand I have used - think I used 2 for the entire shell.

Was going to put it in the back of my long suffering seatless Picasso, but I recently acquired a new trailer so it can go on that - when I get the other thing off it...

Yikes! I did the same to my Focus, and went through 4x 9" grinder discs, and came extremely close to giving the top of a finger to the cause too. But for an hour I had a Focus Cabrio! Sadly the pictures of that suffered an iPhoto 'clean'.
Got €67 for what the scrappie reckoned was 350kg of steel. Odd how 1000kg of car disappeared from the beginning of the strip to the last..

That was also my plan after I couldn't even give it away to the scrap-metal guy who loiters with a truck around the Derby Recycling Centre taking scrap off people queuing for the tip! Car breakers weren't interested, but got lucky for free with Metallon who are coming tomorrow.
