Hi all,
Think I'm the first one on here from this part of the world, any other south coasters hiding out there?
Typical story for me - dad had a Westfield years ago which started the kit car interest, been looking into 7-alike kits but not sure if I have the talent and definitely don't have the money to build a good one.
A random post on the PistonHeads forum when researching budget 7s pointed me towards the Exocet, and after an initial 5 minutes of thinking "this must be a joke, that thing looks like a toy", the idea sunk in and I realised the whole concept of the Exocet is borderline genius. A kit car for the millions of us petrol heads out there who don't have degrees in spannering and/or £15k hanging around? Yes please!
I will be looking to pick up an MX5 and order a kit as soon as funds allow, hopefully early next year but playing it by ear at the moment. Until then I will be lurking, learning and building up a big bank of questions ready for the big day. Big thumbs up to everyone posting build threads, they have been very helpful so far and gone a long way to making my mind up about the Exocet kit. Keep up the good work gents!
Once built I plan to use it as mainly a track toy so I've already been doing some research into, ahem, "enhancing" the MX5 platform. Usual suspension upgrades and the like, and forced induction has also caught my eye. Good setups are expensive though so that would be something for the future. Anyone else thinking of going in this direction or will I be blazing the trail?
P.S. please no-one buy a green one before me, eye-meltingly garish colours are kinda my thing
Chris.
