I am new member but sad news is after 9 months of looking for a good donor and 18 months trying to get going (in which time we have gone from Mevster to Exocet to Exocet 2015), I think I have to give up.
Just after I got the donor, I had to undergo major spinal surgery which has slowed me down (6 month recovery, 3 of them off work) and left me with nerve damage. Now I have just had another procedure although not as serious. Basically I am just no longer physically able to take on this kind of work and need to find another hobby.
Because of this I aim to sell the donor, but I thought it may be an advantage to some other "MEVite" if I offered the vehicle within the community, rather than go direct to Ebay.
It is a P reg 1.8 S UK spec (not an import) with just over 54,000 miles on the clock. It was a cat C insurance write-off - but damage limited to OSF and the parts needed for a MEV build are not affected.
I did a finance check on it and it was clear. I have the V5 and have SORNED it off the road. It has been in my garage for the past year and I have stripped off the front bumper and both front wings. OS wing was scrap and so was the F bumper. The radiator is bent but not broken or leaking and it is drivable (but now illegal on the road). I run it and drive up and down the access road (private land) to my home to keep the engine ticking over and rust at bay. Pirelli P2000 tyres, exhaust system still bright metal, Hood is original in very good condition with heated glass rear screen - so some value to be had from breaking. Engine seems very good and only shows slight oil weep around the oil pressure sensor (a regular maintenance item anyway)
Other damage - OSF chassis rail bent - hence the Cat C classification.... I got it assessed for repair but it would cost too much even done privately, in my contact's spare time. Rest of the car is in very good condition, carpets good, seats show general wear only - no scuffs/tears and it still has the space saver spare wheel with cover. All a good indication that it was well looked after and the mechanicals are OK).
Managed to get a good number of the previous MOT reports so was able to track the mileage that way and it looks genuine. Paperwork is all available if there is any interest.
I am away on business from Monday for two weeks, so will leave this post for a few weeks to see if any like minded MEV enthusiasts may want to take it off my hands. If I recover my original cost that would be a bonus, but I am open to offers.
If anyone is interested, please email me on: i.scottathome@gmail.com
