Sorry if this has already been covered but I'm trying to plan the brake pipe runs, and was hoping on using freakyparts braided hoses.
My question is how easy is it to remove the abs and do I need any additional parts.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I've looked into this for my Replicar and have bought a used servo and master cylinder from a non-ABS MX5 from eBay.

You either go the non abs route or use the abs master cylinder and servo without the pump unit, just remember which pipe went to the front and which to the rear. If I remember from a previous post you need a T-piece on the front to split left to right.

Thanks , do you know if there are any iva/mot implications by removing it. As I'm guessing it's logged somewhere that the donor had abs.

If you can find a non Abs splitter this is a better option than using the original block and a t piece. Find a non abs model, remove splitting block from this as this has the correct proportioning for the fronts and rears as the abs block unit controls LF and RF independently. You will be able to hook the non abs unit up to the original brake booster using hard lines from the non abs car and then just need to rerout the hard lines to the front and back (abs model block is on the left side of the engine bay and non abs comes from beside the brake booster) From my understanding of the IVA (granted I'm in Australia) they like things to be done properly rather than just unplugging and hoping for the best. Also don't forget to remove the abs fuse from the fuse box otherwise it will throw an error light on the dash

A further question to this and sorry to bring up an old thread
Does the booster from the ABS model fit on the master cylinder for the non ABS model?
Thought I could get away with just changing the proportioning block but just noticed that the ABS master only has 2 outlets whereas the nonABS HAS 3 so I need the non abs master. If it fits with my booster that is awesome as it will mean less travel for the pedal compared to a non abs booster GWNWAR I figured you might know!

Should be no problem just changing the master and keeping the booster unit..

Cheers. I went and saw my local brake guys and they suggested just putting a splitter in the ABS master which is a cheaper option and will have the same effect so that is my plan
