Hi guys, Debating at the moment to have a fuel tank made up as per John and Lukes build but thought I'd have a play at going with the existing tank rotated 180 degrees. On inspecting the tank it appears that the fuel entry hole and vent have traces of rust on the inside. Is this an issue or can it be cleaned up?

I would pull the pump sender mounting plate and check the inside of tank.. If tank is not rusty then it is a money and need/use for car thing.. Cost of custom tank could go to the cost of good tires or shocks..

Cheers gwnwar, will have a look inside tomorrow, been told will cost over £200 for one to be made up still waiting to hear from another guy for a final quote. Thinking if all is good inside may just use the existing one so I can get on with things.

I have sealed worse than that in my motorcycle days. Look for commercial products that clean / etch the tank, and a second part that coats it. Less than $50 US last time I did one.

Or find someone who's breaking one locally. They'll go for peanuts as no-one ever wants the tanks.
