so been reading everyone elses progress and thought i should update mine, Few things i have been working through, firstly i decided to put in a barnett clutch conversion after i reversed the spring when pressing in the clutch, replaced the friction plates while i was there . To do it you have to take the whole engine out, but wanted to sort the spring plate issue out, the springs are heavy duty common on bike engines put in cars or moto cross engine out with frome lifted up, you can see the origanal spring plate spring plate off with friction plates new barnett spring plate on, you can see six seperate springs with heavy duty springs once the engine is out its quite easy really

few runs and the clutch is fine not tested it for long, next job was the electrics, got the clips of the switches , lights and start button, pulled a few wires off, but going to put a 10 pen connector to make it easier to take on and off. took the wireing forward to get the radiator fan with the temperature sensor working it fired up ok and got a temp reading but the radiator decided to leak, so now need to get a new one before i can check the cooling . Need to fit the speedo healer, fix the seat further forward was fixed onto the chassis rail but just a little to far back, cover the electrics near the engine and get some stickers on it going to fit some extentions but dont really want to weld them and ruin the powder coat, so thinking of using some eye bolts. What it looks like all together

Cool, I made the R1 clock quick release by way of a PC 24 way ATX connector, I think I have sorted the handbrake now, Did it pass MSVA with the lower eylet clip on belts? It wouldn't have passed IVA with them, or it wouldn't have done back in 2010. What are the headlights like? I want an extra set of projection lights as full beam units. I found the distance between engine and radiator gave 2 readings for temprature, so I have fitted my temp sender for my own gauge next to the thermostat and will monitor when its getting up to the 105 degree cut in for the fan, I have an over ride for the fan regradless. Will you be at Newark this year? Can't wait to remove my rocket launcher exhaust and replace with a monster loud pipe :-)

How did you sort the handbrake? the lower eyelet i have some metal quick release clips that go onto the harness. lights seem good, not driven at night though but seem fine.
I got a high temp reading and the coolant pipes werent really that hot so think im getting the same thing, the radiator got a leak before the fan kicked in so have to see but have had lots of problems with the cooling, which i hope to sort soon.
Not sure about Newark will have to see not even sure when its on !
like the Thelma and Lousie comment very funny

After reading that your cheaper Mini Moto calpier had shattered, and I was just in the process of fitting the exact caliper, I then invested in a Hi-Spec SVA Caliper, and the factory cable too. If you have the same one then this is what I did, my handbrake is in the tunnel, where as yours is on the right hand side of your seat, but the setting up will be the same. As I say, not really tested it yet, but if its not right now, then RTR will fix it i'm pretty sure. Did you replace yours? Did it pass the MSVA? or has it failed?
I basically made sure the caliper was as close to the disc as possible, then pulled the cable coming from the caliper and used one of those micro sized u clamps to grip both handbrake cable and caliper cable and made sure this clamp was right at the back of the handbrake plastic as it comes up into the adjustable thread. I made sure the nut was at the beginning of its travel, then pulled the cable tightish from the rear caliper and tightened the nuts on the u clamp, then I have a good amount of tweak adjustment, its much much better than it was, I hope to test it on Saturday and will hopefully have a few good pictures of my tr1ke then with it holding on its hand brake. I can see why the cheap ones shatter, with the amount of force needed to grip and hold the disc, I think a new disc would also help to grip against the pads.
Newark is in June, its the weekend, you can get there Friday evening, and camping and entry is normally free if driving yer beast in. I camped last year with my Teardrop caravan. Was a good laugh. No Teardrop this year, unless I get inspired so just a tent for me this time.
My Trailer is booked for the 6th February, so I am taking it to RTR and will let them do what is needed prior to MSVA.
I need them to fit my wings, as I just don't understand how to do it :-)
I also want them to fit a pair of R1 mirrors purely to pass the test, as I have a pair of sexy Kawasaki mirrors to fit, but they may not pass the test, where as the R1 one will.
All in all, its been a very hard build for me, but I have enjoyed 95% of it.
I look forward to MEV Track Days. Kit Car shows, and trip to see the TR1KER boys currently building them in Holland.
Hope to see you at newark, hey you are more than welcome to come and check my TR1KE out before I take it in Feb, just drop me an email and I will give you my address, I am only in huddersfield, you might get more of an idea maybe....
Cheers
Nick

The handbrake didnt work great but the centre bolt holding the caliper bent, i presume for the MSVA it was ok and held .
Got the new radiator on and tested, not after getting the whole of the coolat over my head after i took the presure cap too soon.
Anyone else getting problems with the overflow pipe pushing coolant out, i think its because the filler resivoir is lower then the thermostate and its desined to be the highest point not lower. Will have to keep an eye on it.
next job is the stopper for the clutch

I have just reset my clutch spring plate after over pushing the pedal, the stop bar is not far enough out, but it will be this time tomorrow. Well if your hand brake passed then mine should too....
Have you noticed an improved experience with your new clutch?
Did you just fit the spring cover, or did you fit the Barnett plates too?
How much did you pay for them?
