After a few weeks of decisions I have today placed an order for the Rocket being my first kit car build ;D. Should be with me October but still lots to think about and order until then. The car will be double hoop design and chassis powder coated chrome finish. There will be no ali panels and will be carbon fibre were possible. I am currently making pre-preg tooling for these parts. New 2.0 ltr engine tuned for a bit more BHP. All possible parts will be new, cant wait to get started Any comments welcomed

Wow mabbs, that sounds excellent
you may be able to sell carbon panels on this site, i am sure there is a market for such things, i would like to tidy my tunnel over the winter, and carbon would be cool if i could afford it.
look forward to seeing your car next year, where are you in the UK?
cheers mattsmev

Welcome to the forum Mabbs. look forward to seeing your car. Matt, did you see the centre tunnel on the black/orange Rocket at Newark, very smart in orange with ROCKET in black lettering. I think the car belongs to Steve from Liecs, hopefully he will come to our track day. Stiggy

Off on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow and to add to the joy, I got the magic call from RTR today to say that my kit will be ready for collection the day I return ;D
Carbon and kevlar pre-preg floor pan is nearly complete and tooling for the pre-preg carbon bonnet is well under way.

Collected Rocket with a 350 mile round trip. Collected bare chassis and parts from RTR and then to the powder coaters to have the chassis chromed. Should hopefully have the car back within 2 weeks all being well ;D

Made a bit of progress today. Fitted the composite floor pan which is Kevlar underneath, carbon fibre top with a foamex core. Kevlar bottom: Flipped back over: On with the suspension tomorrow. All cleaned up, de-burred and bushes fitted but tubes are a bit tight so will need some honing first.

Hi mabbs, can i ask why your roll bar bracing is different ? Is this just RTR's new design or are you planning something different with the back end ? Loving the floor by the way, i did the same but used fake stuff as the budget would not stretch that far :-(

Loving the floor by the way, i did the same but used fake stuff as the budget would not stretch that far :-( I asked if they could do the design so that it follows the engine cover lines. Cost a bit more as it was not standard. The roll bar bracing is just personal preference.
