Must get car done, the Las Vegas Region has auto cross tomorrow! Going to be a long day if I am to succeed! Thank goodness for cooler temperatures!
Super cool headlight brackets worked great. Nice and solid. Amazon.com 29.95 for two.
And a little plastic work for the led turn signals. And now for a temporary exhaust. The Exocet has a little different routing/clearance that a miata, so may have a little banging the first days drive:) And the noisy end. A tire change, and on the scale. Mostly to see where we are, no adjustable shocks yet, maybe Santa will bring some? Also, a peek at the rear view mirrors. Had to bent them about 20 degrees to work. damn, they sure get in the way! Will break something one day, hopefully not my skin. The sun is setting and a rare sight, clouds. Impressive, not bad. Set the toe and we are going for a ride! Will have to post my seat belt installation later. Yup, did that today also. The above is with no one in the car. Now on the street, we logged 10 miles and loaded it on the trailer for tomorrow! Long day, about 10 more hours.
Messed up some hair and posting video on face book! Sun is about to set! You can almost see the stock seat belts. Had to support the exhaust with some wire, need to get to the muffler shop next week. Racing muffler way to loud! 122 hours and ready to drive! Opps. no where for numbers? Back in the garage and a quick Plexiglass install. Only had two holes in the wrong location, same as Genes build. Will post picture later. Tomorrow a day at the track!

Ebay find, low cost quick disconnect. Made by sick speed, yes I spelled it correct. Looks like a copy, but worked well. Bolt on.

Sunday 7 am.
Unloaded and first group out!
Even girls like to race Exocets! (my daughter) Is she the first women to run an Exocet in an event in the US?
Nice numbers on the side:)
My son is also driving in Genes. He has a lot more go fast stuff! Everyone is seeing double! Lots of smiles and questions. Sadly had to leave at noon, my Mom decided to have her eighty second birthday on the same day, so we had to go eat chicken, cake, and pie... Next event will have to catch up on everyone wanting a ride. But it was a success, found a few rattles, needs stickier tires, spacers on the rear tire to keep from rubbing the frame, some grip tape on the floor, a better steering wheel, and maybe a depowered steering rack, limited slip, and some work on tire pressures. I am sure we were to high as we set them like we do on the stock bodies Miatas.
But I believe I am still under 9k in dollars spent! If you don't count the items we have collected from the years. Times were not as good as FTD(excluding a go kart) in Genes at the last event(again, thanks to Gene for letting me co drive and letting my son drive his), but I am sure this one will get as fast in the future.
A lot of heat when driving in the paddock without a hood, hope we get one soon? I have bright yellow ordered!

Gas fill works! Sure looked big in the garage, looks small at the gas pump... Does not leak! Made it home!

mazdaracer wrote "Since the seats all bolt into the Miata, if I make this exact as a stock Miata they will all fit depending on who wants to drive the car. And 4 bolts and one wrench to make the exchange. And with the stock seat option, any new drivers or passengers should fit. I have an upholster that will redo the stock seats so it should look sharp. So first the hardware."
Wow! You can fit any seat you want from stock to race seat!!!! Brilliant!!! I hope to do the exact setup on my car next year.

That color frame/wheels with no bodywork looks seriously Mad Max. Love it.

First drive, first fill up and first time someone else drives your car - all great moments!

Both Ricks kids are excellent autocross/trackday drivers. Becky recently became a certified PCA Instructor.
