Okay, fixed my photo mistake, tried to do it on my ipad mini, so somehow got mini picture? Back on the desktop, looks better?
So, after a trip to Utah, an auto cross still in my stock bodied Miata and a 40 year anniversary , back to work! Used this little hose to bypass the heater. Debated with my son on what year lower radiator hose to use, almost went with a 99+ since it is one hose, but it only had a plastic holder, thought the metal one would hold up better, so add a tab and filled with coolant. No leaks. (note steering and header) Rear brakes, long studs, etc... all done. Thought I would save time and use hubs off a old spec Miata, but found the left rear was bent, so had to rebuild the left rear from the donner. Ugh, hate to waste time. No, I am not being lazy on a parking brake, the brakes are bled and testing for leaks. Only found one fitting leaking slightly, a little more wrench and all is good! Clutch held with the same test, so hydraulics are done. Fuel tank is in, lines connected. The long 1/2 inch bolts with extra nuts works great. Had to go to the hardware store to find bolts with threads all the way, the fancy hardware store did not have these. Trying to keep everything stock that I can so when things go bad, they will be easy to source! About the only area I could find to mount the stock filter. I think all should clear once the fiberglass arrives. Hopefully soon? I have about 3/8 of a inch between the drain plug and the subframe. All bolts set to the same length. After seeing Gene's wiring box, I had to have one. But, darn, I opened it and there was no wiring:) So, in goes a wire, so that means I am wiring the car right!
Things left to do. Emergency brake Radiator overflow bottle, Gene found one, just need to buy it(no way to find a home for the stock one). Air cleaner and air intake plumbing w/brackets Seat belts Put a small dent in the header, touches the steering shaft right now. And the part we all can not wait for, wiring and lights! Fiberglass install and ?
Total build time now stands at 84 hours. And one last picture for my tuner friends, a exocet with stance! (picture faked, wheels are not tight)

So, got a few hours to work.
The right hand cable is rather close to not fitting, next time or if it give me any issues I will route it through the side of the tunnel and not through the rear. Had to put a piece of rubber on the bottom of the cable connector as the bottom rattles against the tunnel. Might have to make a nice alum cover over the cables and handle mount. So another 4 hours to a total of 88.

9-14-14 will go down in History! (14-9-14 for our friends across the pond) Gene brought his out to shake it down. I finally got to drive a EXOCET!!! WOW, we had a crowd the whole day. Even a discussion if it was a car or not:) Everyone wanted to go for a ride. Gene's build is awesome! He allowed me to be one of the several drivers. I think he was testing me to push the car hard. Had a touch of an issue with the design/location of the brake lines. I got the pleasure of running the course without brakes, actually still faster than my stock Miata? Had to adjust the throttle after a few runs. Gene had such large anti roll bars, we were lifting the inside rear tire on fast turns. So we unhooked the rear bar and Gene promptly spun for the first time. But times dropped again by being able to stay in the gas longer and not waiting for the tire to drop. I think when I upgrade my rear end I will go with a clutch style or welded rear end to prevent this. Needless to say we recorded the fastest car time! Only thing faster on course that day was a go kart! Experiment a success! Okay, done talking, time for video autocross
More autocrossand a stock miata to compare

Wiring team assembled. in my dreams.... and the real world Removed all air bag wires, a little complicated on a 92 model. Removed all a/c and heater wiring. Removed headlight motor wiring. Removed wiper system wiring. So now I have two piles of wire about the same weight:) Going to build brackets to mount the ECU under the wiring box and try to move all relays and such into the box. Hope to keep the cigar lighter and emergency flasher button. Might add a manual switch for the second radiator fan. Wish me luck and if anyone has other advise feel free to chime in! Also, anyone install a sound system? Was looking at some of the amps and speakers for motorcycles that use a stereo jack from my phone?

I am installing a stereo. But it will just be a bluetooth amp, and two speakers. I then will stream from my phone and use my phone as the 'headunit'. Here are my 6.5" speakers which will be mounted to a bar somewhere: Here is the bluetooth amp:

Rick.. Don't unhook the emergency flasher. I forget now but I think the brake lights go through it.

Scratch the speakers, they are far too large. Perhaps I will buy two 6.5" speakers and mount them in the gas tank cover (trunk cover).

Another weekend gone. But, the wiring works and no smoke! Now to put in a little gas. and install the instrument cluster. And something I wish I would have done when the chassis was bare, the odd shapped hole for the speedometer cable to snap in. So, another 12 hours. Yes wiring is the hardest part, or at least requires the most thought. Also, I may be more pickey than most. I took the time to solder and heat shrink any wires I had to extend, shorten, or repair so they will not be issues on track days. I also wanted everyting in the wiring box that I could fit. Again, just like the time to make the speedo cable hole, if I every need a new part, I want them to go right in like a stock miata. I hope this prevents agravation in the future? So next is lights, finish mounting the battery, seat belts, and install a quick disconnect steering wheel. Stay tuned. I think this puts me at 100 hours.

I like your labeling setup for all the relays and junctions. Might copy your idea. Also like your fuel filler idea.

So, another sunny Saturday!
Looks ready for a driver finally. but I am going to wait till I have the belts and lights done. And a string alignment first. Found the steering wheel disconnect on ebay for 55 dollars.
The battery is nice and secure, with quick disconnects. Decided to mount the vapor canister, does not weigh much and hopefully cuts down on fumes when I park in the garage. A little work on the oem bracket and bolted to the firewall. The bolt angle was almost perfect. A coat of paint on the transformed bracket and you can barely even see it. It is not in the way and pulls out easily. Getting closer to a car! Still a little low in the front and start on lights tomorrow!
104 hours. I am sure everyone knows that does not include time surfing the internet looking for the next round of parts and ideas. Would possibly have to double the build time:)

Up early on a Sunday with a nice clear head.
Found this nice circuit so I only need two lights. A few cheap relays( less than 2 dollars each on Amazon.com) and a bunch of connectors. The only down side is I had to run a power wire. But will be much more dependable than those horrible travel trailer tail light converters that burn out and melt. Also, someone here on the group published the modification to the flasher relay, Thanks! Also bought some 6 plug molex style connectors so the lights (front and rear) can be unplugged when the body panels arrive! View from the back. My son testing some illumination ideas. Still have to add some reflectors, license plate, and license plate lights.
And, spent a little while at the lathe making some spacers to bring up the ride height so I can at least clear a small speed bump. Sitting now I have a little less than 5 inches at the front jack point and when I stand on the car, I have a little over 5 inches in the rear. Got to start somewhere? Yes, I will be buying some real suspension parts once I get the rest of the car dialed in. Another Sunday done and now at 112 hours. Headlight mounts are delayed due to weather, will not see them till tomorrow. Hope they are as nice as I hope.

Monday night update.
Headlight brackets arrived. They are perfect. They just clamp to the rollbars. And are very study. Legally they need to be on the top bar, 24 inches to the center of the light is the legal height. But they look so much cooler at 16 inches. With these brackets I can move them if I ever need to. The Cyclops. Now to build a mount for the turn signal light.
