Hi all, Has anyone got any details about recent IVA changes regarding the rear fog light. In 1 of the magazines a few months ago they were talking about it having an audible warning or a switch that doesn't stay in the on position once the headlights are switched off or the ignition is switched off

This is the wording, I read it as either it extinguishes when headlights are turned off or you have audiable warning if ignition is switched off.
Is that right??
Note 4: Either of the following applies: 1) The rear fog lamp(s) may continue to operate until the position lamps are switched off, and the rear fog lamp(s) must then remain off until deliberately switched on again or, 2) An audible warning, additional to the mandatory tell-tale light, must be activated if the ignition is switched off or the ignition key is withdrawn and the driver's door is opened, whether the lamps in (RS4) are on or off, whilst the rear fog lamp switch is in the "on" position.

Hammy, my Exocet passed retest IVA this morning. It failed IVA yesterday and one of the fail points was the angle of the fog lamp. Mine is a mars bar sized LED mounted vertically, next to the numberplate and Mr IVA didn't like the angle, but the absence of the auto-off function and and lighting buzzer were not issues.
If it goes that way, I believe that CBS have a box of tricks for about £30.

This place also does one for £30 but I would like to try and come up with a system that doesn't cost £30! www.cartekmotorsport.com/shopBottom of page

Im looking into it now but I think a latch switch will sort it. I'll come back to you.
BTW cheers for the tip on the headlamp motor feed. Cant believe I didn't think of that.....

Spoken with a sparky mate and he says this will do it....http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/illuminated-latching-push-button-switch-red-rear-fog
So run the live from the headlamp motor circuit and one of these and all should be good. Simple, latch switch NOT rocker switch

I used a £3 illuminated rocker switch on mine wired up in a way so even when it's pressed on the fog light won't illuminate unless the headlamps are on. IVA fella had no issues with it.

As usual it seems luck of the draw but the new rule in the manual states it cant stay in the on position once headlamps are off or you leave the car. Reasoning being if you leave it in the on position then next time you get in the car and put headlamps on the fog will illuminate. You had a stroke of luck.

Granted the fog would be on next time in the car with the lights on but so would the led light on the rocker switch informing you it's on.
From what I can gather there has to be a tell tale when the fig light is on whether it be a audioable or visual.
Like I said, mine was wired in such a way that if the led light on the switch was on so would the fog light. If the led light was off so would the fog light.

Cool, still going to latch it as confusion can lead to a fail point depending on each examiner

How is the latch going to worked? Surely if the fog light was on and the headlights were tuned off then on again the fog light switch would still be in the latched on position???
Or am I missing something?

Or am I missing something? That's what I thought but when you cut power from the latch its off. Think putting your front door 'on the latch'
