Thought its about time I get my build thread going... so here we go
This will be my second kitcar build. Well wouldn't call the first one a build really, it was a complete car with a CVH engine, so cheap barn find to be honest. I then replaced the CVH engine with the MR2 MK1 engine, which was exciting to say the least. Wiring the MR2 to the existing CVH wiring was the fun part, going from bog standard carb CVH to the fuel injection MR2. I would not have been able to pull that off without forums like this, it was like long distance learning , as the guys guide me through the wiring process step , step. So great having forums like this.
I then sold that kitcar (totally unplanned) and needed something else to keep me occupied, that is when I stumbled across the MEV site the rest is history as they say. So purchased a victim in August 13, drove it for about a month and started the breaking it apart.
Separating the body from the sub-frame was an interesting one. As I was getting ready with the engine crane (on my own) trying to balance, lift and everything else around it, the delivery truck stop at the house to drop the sand I ordered (multitasking)......so as he effortlessly lift and dropped the sand with his crane....an idea popped into my head......yep you guessed it the pic tells the story. So that was an easy one for me.
The kit was purchased in Feb and in the process of building........ So that's the intro, next will be questions on issues I have...

One of the issues I noted was the seats (Mevs own) does not seem to fit correctly when attached to the original MX5 runners. Don't think the seats are sided.... . Has anybody encountered this....any solutions. Also the rails on the chassis doesn't seem to be wide enough apart for the runners, so a slight gap were the runners would sit. So the seats does not seem to fit within the frame.. unless I raise the runners slightly by the looks of it...

Thanks for viewing . I guess I am the only one who seem to have encountered the foul on the seats, anyway I'll figure it out.
On the edge trim, is there a standard size people have been using...?
Thanks

Hi mate you need to off set the seat runners on the seats one more slightly than the other to get them to fit.read some of the build guides ,that's what I've done.cheers murf

Just pull the release wire (not the lever) on bottom of seat and move ONE side a couple of clicks.

Progress have been pretty slow on my end, due to work commitments. So fitting the build in whenever I can, my target for 'on the road by summer is slipping quick.... Anyway , I am refitting the pedals; the brakes went in fine no need to chop anything. I am just abit confused with the clutch master, there seem to be a gap between the pedal and the cylinder....is there suppose to be a spacer or something in it...? Been a while since I removed it.... i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii620/makoto37/ClutchMaster_zps5a1b2cc3.jpgThanks

Hi , I am looking at inline fuel filter options or using my existing one. Where is the best place to source filters from or any pics of using the existing one? My challenge is finding the space and angle to use the existing one. Thanks

I don't know if this will help you much, your build looks like a 99-00 with the one way fuel system (no return) here is Stedfast's build from California the picture from his fuel tank might be what you are looking for. He had Flyin Miata build his fuel line but this could be duplicated at most auto parts stores that make hydraulic lines. My build is the same 00 NB1 with the one way fuel system also I plan on putting together something like this also. mevowners.proboards.com/thread/4507/steadfasts-california-exocet?page=6good luck, John

Hi Makoto,
I have the same fouling issue with the MEV seats. My seat rails fit ok to the cross bars on the chassis but the side of the passenger seat fouls on the frame. I tried putting spacers on the back seat mounts but this had no effect. Offsetting the seat rails like some of the guys have mentioned doesn't help the problem we have. I couldn't find a proper fix and have decided as it is only the passenger side I will hard mount the seat directly to the chassis using steel bar and not the seat rails. Did you find a way round it?
Cheers
Colin

I did exactly the same. Driver's side is OK but I've taken a massive notch out on the passenger side and it's still fouling. Would have saved time if they'd been designed to fit.
