I am collecting kit next week am just wondered what people do when they are fitting the floor to the chassis? I don't have any sort of work stands or trestles so planned lay loads of blankets on the floors where the roll would sit and then a trestle or stack of boxes under the front end. Then when I flip it to fit suspension I was going to put it on one of my workbenches in centre of garage. Problem with is will it be too heavy to lift down when it's in rolling chassis guise? I will obviously get help from all the neighbours to do this if its feasible but work bench is quite high! Any ideas would be gratefully received

It's a good idea to get some foam tubing to put over the chassis members which protects the powder coat as you are working anyway then you can rest it on this when you turn it over to do the floor, we also have a simple flat trolley made from 2 bits of ply with a a wooded frame sandwiched in between on sturdy wheels with 4 axlke stands screwed down onto these then the frame cable tied to these this has been a godsend as we can then wheel it in and out of the garage etc but you will ned to get some sturdy wheels as it quickly gets quite heavy : our build

Thanks Jacksdad! I will get some foam lagging initially to protect frame!

I rested mine on the floor when putting the floor on as you are suggesting. Now it is the right way up mine is supported on 4 axle stands. 2 at the front and 2 at the back under the chassis with a piece of wood between each pair and the height is good to work at. I borrowed two stands from my brother and bought two from Halfords for £20

Another good suggestion when it's back the right way up. I have 2 axle stands so I'll buy another 2 and a couple of planks!

I had access to 2 workmate stands, and closed them on the tube with protection to avoid powder damage.
Had a nice working height for my lanky ass too;)

I'm OK giving advice.
I don't even have a bloody floor fitted. But I did fit it and remove it before powder. I also bought a full sheet of ally to cover front to back Mine will be getting offered upwards over the pit

Thanks casesensitive, very helpful. I have got a couple of mates coming over tonight to help flip chassis back on its floor so I can mark the floor accurately. I tried doing it with the chassis upside down but was happy with the inconsistent marking I was doing!

Yeah, if in doubt, stop, and do it a different way till you're happy, a cut too deep will annoy you later every time you look at it. I'd a big TV I loved, and it wasn't until someone else pointed out that there was discoloration on all down one side on certain background colours; didn't bother me until I noticed it, but after I did, I couldn't see anything else.

Took the plunge today to cut the Ally sheet. I've ended up with an overhang - I didn't make an allowance.

Better to be an overhang than cutting it short ;-)

True! Feint Heart and all that. Will trim again tomorrow but it isn't wide enough for the jigsaw so its a lot of filing ...... unless somebody has a better idea

Give it welly with a rubber mallet and curve it around the chassis rail.
If you can put a complete circle in it then you have left too much on!
Mine started out looking about that but when curved it hugged the rail nicely.
