Evening all,
Thought I would start a thread on my build to show off the highs and proably the lows too. I should get the kit towards the end of August and so far I have my donar bike and have started to stripe it. Sold my first part at the weekend so have £12.50 back into the build fund!
I have ordered the Wheels and tyres and on the front have gone for Dezent RB 15inch rims with Yokohama Parada spec 2 195/50/R15 and for the rear I have ordered a Yokohama S.drive AS01 205/40/R17.
Will load up some pictures when I figure out how to do it.

Takes more than that bud as long as we're shiny side up.. It's all good. It makes me think what 450hp and the paddle shift setup on mine will move like?? Time for a sanity check..

Yeah it feels nice to sell parts doesn't it LOL!! I made a spreadsheet to overview all costs+selling parts. Might be usefull for you as well. The positive note is when all origin of parts(invoices,e-mail correspondence, paint code etc) and costs are documented it might increase the value of your project and easy selling if desired. I always found it quite tricky buying a 2nd hand kitcar without knowing origin of parts. Just seem to be a nightmare to repair when someting goes bad. Think that's reason#1 to build one myself What color setting did you have in mind? br! Erik

I am going for a Yamaha Blue colour and the doner bike is a X reg 2000, it has 24k miles on the clock so not too bad. I was going to get a spreadsheet for the costs etc but thought this might be too upsetting if I see how much I am spending! Bob

Welcome rpa,
Get some pics of your build on when you start, and by now you will have a load of builds to follow and get hints and tips from. Good luck, it's worth all the skinned knuckles etc :-).

Hello All,
Well sold more items from the donar bike and have taken the back wheel out for painting. Just doing battle with the bearings!
Have the front wheels sorted and they are off for paint, I'll post a picture when I get them back.
So have lots of bits all ready and just need the kit now! Hopefully only a few weeks away.
I have a couple of questions for you all out there. How do I tell DVLA about the bike, is it the dismatling section of the V5?
Also I was wondering if one of you could nip out to your garage and measure the widest point of the frame (where the seats go?) and the length of the chassis from the front to the point where the swing arm attaches, as I need to know if it will fit into my short wheel base T5 transporter van. Don't want to go to pick up the kit and find it will not fit into the van.
Many thanks
Bob

Just tape off the bearings. That'll do. I'm looking forward to your choice of front wheels now! I recon you'r not going for silver or black but blue? You might wait until you are ready to paint the grp parts. This would be much cheaper to paint all at once. You can sell the frame and documents for good money. Just make lots of pics of the plates, chasis number, documents and engine number to proof this isn't a stolen bike. Make pics of the receipt when the frame has been sold to proof you are not the owner anymore. My tR1ke isn't at home to measure chasis dimensions, but the width is 120cm and fits in a Mercedes transporter right in between the wheel wells. This thread needs more pics!!

Hi Bob
The chassis is about 92in or 1.34m long
The width of mine is 51in or 1.3m at the widest
I think the ally sheet for the floor was supplied longer than the chassis but I can't remember by how much.
Regarding the r1 chassis, was the donor bike road legal with tax, if it was and you sell the chassis the log book will go with it, so its just a change of owner.
If you still have the chassis and get a road tax renewal through the post, just SORN it
Cheers

Hello Kevin,
Many thanks for the information, I think I'm safe and it will fit into my T5.
Think I'll go and SORN the bike now and try a refund on Tax.
I'll get some pictures on this weekend, hopefully.
Bob
