Hi, short and sweet really; are there established maximum width and depths for GRP seats in a rocket? Personal circumstances have slowed down my plans a bit, and I'm going to buy my donor, strip it out and run it as a track slag for a while before ordering kit and building my rocket. Plan is to only buy things that I'll need for the rocket anyway (GRP seats, dash computer, 4-2-1 manifold, maybe some big front brakes). I have the opportunity to pick up the seats, but they're nearly 18" wide; are they going to fit? Do I have to have access to the technical section to find out? I'm disappointed I won't be able to kick off my proper build thread, but on the upshot, stripping out the donor and running it in for a while will give me a chance to 'get to know' it and ensure it's 100% sound before dismantling it

The RTR standard seats seem to be 420mm, the ones I'm looking at are 445mm. Doesn't *seem* like a big difference. Anyone fitted seats that weren't the RTR ones? Did you have to mod your tunnel significantly?

Might seem a daft question, but I couldn't find the dimension guide (a= width, f= height etc), is C (49cm) the width? I won my auction for GRP seats, so they'd better fit now :-) 44.5cm, should be ok. There's a guy breaking a Fiesta with 4pot Wilwoods, but I'm scared to buy it in case they can't be made to go on the Rocket. 300mm ST170 fronts will be wasted too.

I have been down the same road on this as I wanted something a little bit different from the standard seats. I can tell you that Buddy Club Racing Spec seats don't fit, well not without modifying the centre tunnel and moving the gear shift forward as Paul has done. I have finally settled on Racetech RTSaker seats, it's quite a reclined seat. Still tight but looks good. www.racetech.co.nz/racetech.shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=434&zenid=brdefqqehm6318c49edfmfg9i4They are made local to me and I am having to have mine tweaked a little. Not cheap but I am buying them as a 25th wedding anniversary present, in fact for our anniversary I am taking my wife on a factory tour of the Racetech facility - who said romance is dead

I have watched your thread with interest, but it's fair to say your skills level is a lot higher than mine; the idea of 'just' changing engine or gearbox mounts because they don't line up makes me quake with fear, if/when that happens to me, I have an idea I'll spend 2 weeks just staring blankly at it until I read how to fix it elsewhere.
Ordering the starter kit next month anyway, I figure if I just jump in, it'll be alright eventually.

Yeah, will do, cheers. Ordering kit next week with any luck, got some time off in August, hopefully get started then. Bought my seats, got in touch about the Wilwood 4-pots, be great to save a few quid and still get good stuff.

I personally would try avoid wilwood if possible, not sow of how good they are, but just marrying them in to the system. If you can get metric, it will make life much much simpler. That's just my advice mate.

I have a lot to learn, I thought I mostly had to worry about calipers and carriers, I was planning to reuse the ST's cylinders. In better news I put my deposit down today, can't wait!
