Hi Guys,
Just thought i'd introduce myself as I will soon be the proud owner of a Mev tR1ke ;D. After selling my part built Mev Exocet today due to a serious lack of build time I have taken the plunge and reinvested the funds into buying RTR's factory demo tR1ke. I really liked the look of them when I saw them at Curborough last year and I love the way they offer something different to the usual kit car scene. I hope it proves to be a decent purchase and I'm looking forward to meeting up with some of you at a show in the near future or getting together for a blast if anybody lives not too far away. Just need to sort out the dreaded insurance now!!!
Many thanks, John.

Cheers guys,
Really looking forward to getting it now. I'd love to get to Stoneleigh this year as I missed it last year due to being on holiday. If the weathers good I'll defo be there one of the days. Andy, I'm definitely up for a good blast out, the A444 down your end (near to the A5) is a cracking piece of tarmac if I remember rightly from my biking days. Hopefully the powers that be haven't ruined it with stupidly low speed limits and speed camara's. That sounds like one of my old favorites the 'Cat & Fiddle'.... Does anybody know if it will make a difference to my insurance premium if I insure the tR1ke using my bike license or car license? I wont have any no claims with either as I will be using it for my daily runner.

Hi John
I recon as long as you have a license that enables you to drive the tR1ke it won't make any difference, Ive got one for a bike and car like most of us and don't think they were bothered which I used. They did want proof of a club membership when I initially phoned them, but it was not asked for when I rang them to pay for the cover.

Who is it you are insured with and is there a list of companies who will insure the tR1ke?

Cheers, I'll get in touch with them. Do you have to be a part of an owners club? If so do I just tell them I'm in the MEV Owners Club?

Cheers guys, keep the insurance companies coming so I can play one off the other and hopefully get a good deal... (I must sound like some kind of crazy fool - who has ever had a good deal with insurance, thats about as unlikely as finding the end of a rainbow!!!!).
Cheers guys.

I just said I was a member of the MEV forum. My policy duplicates my No Claims so the price isn't too bad. Also bare in mind any discounts on alarms and immobilisers may not be worth it, if an alarm costs you £400 and you get £40 discount, unless your keeping the vehicle for 10 years plus, it's a waste of cash......that's just my opinion of course :-)

Hi John! Congrats with your new pride and joy! You'll dig that tR1ke! nick, Not sure what to think about the alarm example you make. Wouldn't you even reconsider to install an alarm if no discount has been provided? It sure would have protection value for one reason. I was thinnking about a GPS tracker but haven't been able to hide one in this kit yet... What about a swirl tank... waste of money too?

I never leave it parked out of sight, and I pay fully comp insurance so as far as I'm concerned its covered. In my personal experience, and aftermarket alarm is more hassle than it is worth.

I haven't fitted a swirl tank, after speaking to friends at MNR, they never fit them, and never have sues with fuel starvation. But I know others have fitted them so I think it's. personal thing really. I may eventually install my Toad immobiliser, but won't be ever installing an alarm. I find a baseball bat is much more effective, and it's in a locked alarmed garage at my home protected by me and a lot of guns ;-)
