Hi,
I live in Sweden and thinking about building a Rocket. My budget is quite tight so I won´t do any "extras", at least not during the first years. Primary the car would be used on road, no tracks.
I have a couple of questions, hope anybody can answer.
Donor: Here in Sweden we don´t have 1,8 litres Focus. Just 1,6 and 2,0. It´s my first build, so I don´t want do do any big modifcations. Is it correct that I need to change gearbox, flywheel and clutch if I use a 2,0 donor?
Will the 1,6 donor be a better choice as it´s more "bolt-on"?
Brakes: Will there be any cheaper choice of frontbrakes than Wilwood or Hi-Spec? Again, without any modifications. Rear, I will use Focus standardbrakes.
Hope anyony can answer my questions.
Thanks!

Hi
I have the 1.8 but I believe the 1.6 should be more of a 'bolt on' than the 2.0l. But I am sure someone else can confirm too. You may also want to look at the Hi-Spec website. You can but the ultralite economy which is cheaper than the painted ones and it basically the same.

Was your 1,8 bolt on? (more or less)

Yes it is a 1.8. No modification required and on the latest chasis you can even use the donor CAT. So I assume the same for 1.6.

BobN: I have just read your projectthread and it seems like you use as much cheap parts as possible. Same as I have thought. So, what´s your totalt budget?
Your frontbrakes, which components did you use?
Gearshifter, still a Focus or did you swap to Mondeo?

I got the wilwoods from RTR, the calipers from hi-spec. The gear shift from 'the joker' on this forum and I think most people did that. Total cost should be under 15k.

That will be £
I think you have to use the Mondeo gear lever to get the correct gear configuration. You can't use the focus calipers on the front either, so you will have to go with Wilwood/HiSpec, but as someone else has said elsewhere, you can get the unpainted versions of the Hi SPec a bit cheaper.
