I have now ordered my kit with a build date of Feb 11th so a few weeks to while away stripping my 2000 reg R1 that I've just got.
I am looking into all the other bits that are required in particular the front brake discs. Please can anyone advise what size they are, I know they are Ford Focus 4 stud but what is the diameter as there seems an array of different sizes. I think I have sorted my calipers using Hi-Spec Ultralite 4.
I'm sure there will be many more questions but they can keep for later
I am hoping with luck a finish date of mid to late summer whiuch will put another one on the road in Somerset.
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, the discs you want are from the rear of a focus 280mm, I think they're for a st 170 or a sporty model because the std focus uses drums I think. I would measure mine but I can't get an accurate measurement on the car. RTR supplied my discs, calipers and m'cylinders as a kit at a good price although they did have a very slow turn around with Hi spec. I also had to wait weeks before my hand brake arrived after ordering it direct from Hi spec.

Hi Kevin Thanks for your reply, that is the ones I have being looking at but just needed to be certain. I was going to order the brake package from RTR as per webb but having now received the order form it seems they are now sold as separate items and works out £40 or £70 dearer depending on type of pads so thought I would source myself. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave I looked at sourcing brakes myself but decided it was much easier to just order it all from rtr. Where in Somerset are you? I am only just up the road in Bristol and my kit is due this month, so I won`t be far ahead of you. We may need to get together for a bit of head scratching at some point ! Cheers Paul

I bought my set from RTR it worked out cheaper than getting it all from HiPsec brakes in Kent. My brakes are brilliant. 4 pot with green EBC pads. I bought my own discs, grooved not drilled,
Sent from my LT26i using proboards

Hi Paul. I'm just down the road at Burnham on Sea. Be good to get together once your kit has arrived will then be able to fully see what I'm getting. Dave

Hi Dave I also sourched my brakes from rtr. Focus St170 disks with Wilwood calipers and Wilwood master cylinders. Because brakes are not powered they feel very controlled.
And hard braking with my tr1ke feels like diving under the tarmac.
The relative low mass of the tr1ke makes any disk brake configuration sufficient.

Hi,
In Sweden we´re not allowed to buy too much from the same supplier, especially things like brakes etc. So, can anyone give me part-number for the Wilwood calipers and Hi-spec calipers? Does the ST170 disks fit bolt on?
I haven´t ordered my kit yet, but will do next autumn, so now I´m collecting as much information as possible. Are master cylinders included in the kit from MEV?

Hi Rena do you have to build the kit sourcing every part from different suppliers, or just certain parts. If so what parts cannot be bought from 1 supplier.
RTR offer the brake setup including the wilwood m/cylinders, disks and calipers as an option when you order the kit from them.
The brake lines don't come in the kit ether although they might be an option.
The parts might be cheaper from the manufacturer but is it worth it after the extra postage cost and not knowing if the parts are correct.
The Hispec caliper is an ultralite 4 radial to fit a 280mm disk, I think
The disks slot onto the ford hubs that come in the kit and are held in place by the wheels just like a normal car.
Cheers Kevin

Hi,
I´m not really sure how much I can buy from same supplier, but I know I can´t buy everything.
The only thing I know is that it must not be too complete kit.
