I guess it is only a matter of time before we all get caught. I picked a fixed penalty up today. I saw the camera signs but haven't a clue what the speed limit was on the road. They should put a speed sign under every camera sign. Travelling on roads where the limit changes every 3-5 miles can confuse so you can spend more time concentrating on the speed signs and cameras than on the road! The speed limit for a 3.5 ton gross weight vehicle is lower than a 3.0 ton on some roads apparently, 60 on a dual instead of 70, how bizzare!

hopefully you were in a sensible vehicle, and not in a toy so you were not too far over.

Commercial vehicles and car derived vans over 2 ton are limited to 60mph on a dual carriageway and 50mph on single carriageway And the weight is the GVW taken from the chassis plate not the actual weight

Having just completed a speed awareness course, 4 hrs long, 3 hrs was useless info, 1 hr was good advice on recognition of the speed limit in areas according to clues. TBH, better than 3 points and the increased insurance.

I agree, Each speed camera should have the speed limit on it, loads of roads have more signs saying there are cameras about rather than telling you the speed limit
I was sharing this frustration with my father in law who said 'I know what you mean, every time I pass a speed limit sign I like to wright it down in case i forget!'

Errr speaking as an ex copper.... think my cred has just gone up in smoke........if your driving down a road and unsure of the speed limit, especially in a built up area, just look into a side street as you pass, if there is no speed limit sign in there it means your in a 30 limit already. If the central lines are long nine times out of ten your in a 30 or 40 limit, put these together and you soon get the idea.
