Hey all, well the Donor vehicle is here now and getting impatient! The original idea was to buy the MX5 and run it over the summer then start the strip in November, But now am thinking start the strip down and get the kit on order.
So from previous experience, how long does it take to get the kit from point of ordering, is it advisable to start the strip before getting the kit or not?

I began my strip down about 6 weeks ago and not ordered the kit yet. There is a heck of alot of parts to come off and store so my advice would be wait until you get rid of the shell before ordering. I am gonna be ordering mine soon. If you have stacks of room then order it sooner.

I stared stripping my donor back in march up my mates house which has a large drive so plenty of space 3 of use stripped it apart and worked out to take 20hrs between 3 of use 3 days over a month from rolling car to just the frame that is needed.
Spent the next month and half then stripping everything apart that is needed replacing whats needed and painting the rest. Ordered my kit at stonneleigh and picked it up at the end of that month could of picked it up the following weeked but did have a paint frame.
If space is at a limit i would strip car get rid of shell sell what you can then strip down suspension etc order kit then putt everything back together. One tip label everything on the wiring loom and take plenty of pictures. I didn't do that for the loom as im a mechanic by trade and find that bit easy but for a novice it's harder.

Ok Exeter show is the end of October.... So the thinking is start the strip down end of September and then order Kit at the show so can have a final look over, spend November rebuilding subframes etc and then kit should land sometime in December and can try for a 1st March Registration..... or if not before the summer comes, if we have a summer next year lol
