That lagging looks a lot like the stuff they wrap around new bikes as well, our bike shop gave us a load to protect the wifes new bike when on the car rack
Well when I say gave, to be accurate it came with a new all carbon bike for the wife......... No I was NOT building up the brownie points in preperation for the Rocket.
I reckon thought that bike shops have loads kicking around if one asks nicely.

todays efforts saw the arrival of my engine cover mod. its an original reynard formula 1 job. ill be cutting it approx where the rear camel is, then grafting it to the flat engine cover. cutting a hole in the cover and mounting the CDA filter in there for a good direct ram air for the charger. im pretty sure i really didnt need a genuine formula part though

Of course you need it!
Looking forward to see you incorporate it into your build.
Cheers, /Tobias

Sweeeeeeet! What are you planning to do to cover the rough edges at the front of the scoop? I suppose you could make the roll bar follow the line and that would look amazing! I'm glad someone's finally taking the plunge and giving this a go. How's the dry build coming along?

I'm glad someone's finally taking the plunge and giving this a go. How's the dry build coming along? the entire unit is 7kg-ish, ill be removing more than 50% of it though and then scribing it around the engine cover. i need to complete this before i can start the welding on the bar. the bar is gonna sit directly in front of the the outer lines of the scoop, about 5mm away. ill sketch a pic and post it up. the scoop will be removable from the engine cover and the engine cover will be removable not hinged as i dont like the piano hinge, im looking for some eccentric cam hinges to totally move the cover out of the way.. sort of like a lambo door. paul

i was a bit dubious on that weight, got some calibrated scales on the case. complete unit 4.55kg thats better, so worst case ill add 2.5 kg and a little drag, but should create some good high pressure direct ram style induction.. we shall see

i have the rear section of the engine cover if anyone wants it, its an expensive bit of memorabilia (just cut in half). free to good home, if it could be used or just kept on show. Free to good home, just postage or collection.

Looking good Paul, but don't you think that all the effort with the F1 engine cover is going to be wasted if you continue to leave the spare wheel on the bonnet?
