Now we all learn by our mistakes, here we discover that it is best to remove the MX5 body when the car is not in a small garage.

Ouch. BANG (engine hits floor), BANG (shell hits car), BANG (shell hits car again)... Amazing how a little preparation can make life so much easier. Interesting technique using a jack on the engine lift though...

Oh dear.
Had a similar incident with a block and tackle "securely" strapped to a cross beam with sailing wire and locking mech.
The back end of the Mr2 dropped right on the engine, bounced off it and rolled out the garage. Thankfully i was just behind the car otherwise my dad would have been getting his plums kicked if i'd survived.

pushing the whole thing outside (instead of half out) would probably have made all the difference plus when using the hoist from the side you just pull (gently!!) out the way in a straight line

Nice work jords
dont forget the £200 you can get from You been framed - we should all budget for it on our builds , much more entertaining than ebay

The reason why it was half in and half out was because: 1) both subframes were unbolted and resting on the suspension, with the 200mm chocks so it didn't collapse 2) I decided to whip off the centre nuts off the suspension halfway out, which push the body up, shuck it about, caused the chocks to fall out and dropped the front subframes to the floor so the engine anchored it down and we couldn't move it I should send it in to you've been framed! Cheers for the heads up red!
