Several months ago I bought a Toyosports stainless manifold from tuningpartsbay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400181532325&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123#ht_831wt_1163). It arrived with a mashed up gasket due to poor packing but other than that it looked great. However 6 months later when I came to fit it (to a 1.6 engine), it's several mm too short for the head. It's almost as if it's for a 1.5 engine version.
Needless to say the company was less than helpful and refused any sort of exchange or refund as I purchased it more than a month ago. Yet another cheap item which totally doesn't fit.

I got the 1.8version of the same manifold and it fits perfect, the only problem is it doesn't have the EGR port fitted which UK spec cars have but thats my fault for not checking.

I also bought one of these manifolds, but from another supplier on ebay. It did not fit, none of the ports matched and the mounting studs did not all line up, the O2 sensor mount was also wrong as the sensor could not be fitted without fouling the gearbox and it does not fit the original Mazda exhaust system!
Many, MANY, hours or work later and it does fit...but had I realised how much grief this bargain item would cause me, I would have bought a quality item in the first place. If you feel bloody minded and unprepared to be beaten (like I did), mark up the manifold using the original Mazda exhaust manifold gasket and get grinding! Alternatively, threaten with Trading Standards...you have the right to expect that the component you bought from a parts dealer is fit for purpose - it was sold to you on description.
Good luck

I followed the link (curious) & suggested they had mispriced item. Response:"the normal price should be £109,because it's out of stock, but will be back soon,we want to keep the sold history, so we change the price." I've heard of this before so maybe they aren't that dodgy; but if it doesn't fit then it was sold 'unfit for purpose', breaking Sale of Goods act. Something I have used with success to keep sellers in line is here: www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft913.pdf

toed64: So have you modified the ports as well?
No, I didn't want to mod the engine, so I just attacked the manifold. There was a lot of material to remove, but I was able to ensure that there were no restrictive surfaces of manifold hindering flow out of the ports. I was quite pleased with the end result.
I must take some pics of what I've done!

Nice. More work than I'd want to do, but fair play!

Nice. More work than I'd want to do, but fair play! More work than I wanted to do too! But, I paid about £100 for it and named brand manifold would cost a shed-load more, so perhaps it wasn't so bad - I wouldn't mind earning £50ish per hour! ;D
