I see alot of vids of the car on the track, but i would like to see the car on everyday roads, if those videos exist.
Anyone take 100+ mile road trips in their cars?

Hmm, I don't think I've posted any aside from some of the clips in the F1 Intro parody I just uploaded a week or so ago to our YouTube channel. I've got plenty of footage from the GoPro though and I'll have to upload some more. Just took a bunch doing some suspension tests.
The longest trip I've done in the Exocet was to Lake Greenwood, SC with my wife coming from Atlanta. About 190 miles each way. We wore our helmets while on I-85, but after hitting the back roads we switched to sunglasses since the speeds were down and it was a nice day.
In general, a pair of good sunglasses that are of a wraparound design are fine up to ~70mph for shorter drives and I tend to stick to those around town. More fun to make faces at people too when they have the "WTF is that?!" look in their eyes. Anytime I am on an interstate where the possibility of retreads/tire remnants littering the road is high then I typically go full face motorcycle helmet. My number one fear is a vehicle kicking up a large piece of debris to my face/neck/chest.
I don't have any form of windscreen on either of the Exocets, so you do experience wind and sun fatigue on longer drives. I would compare it to driving a motorcycle without a front fairing for a similar distance, but without the pain in your rear. The Corbeau Forzas are quite comfortable for extended periods of time.

how is the stability at 70? Do you feel like you are going to get ran over due to being so low to the ground?
I would love to see some more of your vids!!

Stability is rock solid at well above the speed limit. Being in between two semi trucks is a little puckering, but I try to stay out of blind spots and make myself as visibile as possible.
Here we go for some video of the Exocet on the street. I took this footage while I was testing out the old spring rates and doing some shakedown runs.

I wore my helmet always in it. In fact, i need to upgrade to a motorsports helmet with a chin splitter to help keep the head level.
Too many bugs, rocks, sand, whatever to not IMO. even at 20mph an bug to hte face really hurts.
stability depends on build. his stability may be different than mine vs yours based on suspension components, amount of new items, if you got an alignment or not, etc etc
but as long as stuff isnt worn out, stability should be good up to about 100 or so, where after that these cars REALLY need aero. they do get a bit light on turn in. a front splitter and rear wing would really help if you are tracking them

I actually find the idea of having to use a helmet is a bit off-putting for road use. Is there the means of getting a front screen for them or making one.

You could put a screen on ( i will be putting on a small one) but driving this car will just be like riding a motorbike, very open. We have purchased two helmets that have the open fronts with drop down visors rather than full on motorbike helmets. These give you much more visibility.

Nice video! Thanks for posting that, which gives a nice perspective. I ride motorcycles and I think i would always wear one in this vehicle as well. Maybe not for low speeds (30) but any more than that I would. I will also use the screen as well

Wow, that helmet looks like it would cost more than the car!

Not more then the car..but what is your face/head worth.. the flip down open face should be ok with a good size screen.. remember to have car inspected before adding screen or you will need wipers for it..

oh, good pointer! I was just giving you crap about the helmet. I ride motorcycles so I have no issues with spendnig money on protective gear. Heck, I look like a knight going into battle I wear so much!

I made a load of videos of the build of my exocet which are on youtube, they are pretty rough around the edges but were just for fun really, though i plan to make a quality edit of the finished car, just waiting for the weather to improve.
Regarding wearing helmets it really does get too windy above 40 and obviously the issue of being hit by a stone is something to consider.
i have made a perspex screen for my car and it really does mke a big difference, i am now happy to spend most of the time driving without my helmet

[a href=" "][/a][/url] We have been doing regular weekend drives 100 mile round trip's, since July 2011 up until December then back on the road from this March. Of to Curborough this weekend for our 2nd time on the track. We have fly screen as you can see, as Kevin says it more fun without helmet, but when the red mist fall's over Scott a helmet is advisable. Regards Jeff
