Hi,
As discussed on adam1001s thread, has anyone who has finished their build managed to corner weight their car?
In theory it could be done to a reasonable accuracy with 3 paving slabs and a 200kg set of bathroom scales!
I'm looking at getting a suspension setup with sensible spring/bump/rebound settings and some accurate weights will help massively.
Cheers, Stuart

You could always buy 8 cheapo scales from Argos or a similar establishment, arrange them with a piece of timber so each wheel spans a pair of scales. No use unless you can adjust the spring seat on your shocks though, try it with the driver on board.

Hmm, looks like someone's beaten us to it. There's a very attractive 'Cork platform' scale reduced at Argos from £6.99 to £2.99. Unfortunately I can only find one available and it's in Launceston.

I'd love to give it a try, but my heap of bits is still pretty large... Although getting smaller by the week! Anyone else a bit further ahead?

Fresh.. it will give an idea but with yours just alittle heavyer in the front.. remember to have them weight the drivers seat by your weight to get a better reading.. were are you getting your springs from Pegasus has some.. when are you coming back to the states.. what class do you run with the car..

i use eibach springs on BC racing coilovers im pretty happy with my current setup. once i push it a little more, i may have to do some spring swapping since i currently have no front swaybar, but given the characteristics, i dont feel i need one.
car will have to be in any unlimited category. it isnt very competitive, but i do it for fun, so im not too worried about it. If i did a miata engine, im not 100% sure what category it would be in
as for comming back to the states, not for a long while. the car is at my rents, and when i come home, ill be tracking it

The front and rear axel weights are done in the IVA test and as the car is pretty much 50/50 weight distribution side to side, it can be worked out there. Mine was around the 700 kg mark 400 front and 300 rear ish if that helps.

That's really useful Alex, did they do left right differentials as well by any chance?

Nope, just front and back, with and without a driver. Think it's fairly evenly distributed left to right when driverless. With a 80-90 kilo driver and 80-90 kilo passenger I think it's almost exactly 25% weight per wheel. Circa 800-850 depending on the car weight, so about 200ish per corner
