Hi all, We opted for the bare un-powdercoated frame when ordering so that we didn't damage it durring assembly and so that we can pick our own frame colour. What i'm trying to work out is how many holes and fixings etc that we need to drill/insert and where before we get the frame coated ,we intend to dummy fit a number of the main components but it would be useful to get a heads up from those in the know on rough numbers and locations. Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

Mate - recommend full build , and then disemble.
I have lost count with the amount of fixings to the frame and i dont think there is any way you could get it right as evry build is different.

I'm sort of in this process now. As of now, I have fitted the throttle cable, hand brake, seats and had to file the holes for the clutch to be a bit larger. I still need to drill the holes for the harnesses. I plan to have the exhaust done so the hangers get powder coated too.

I am doing it that way round going for a gold frame that will be very easy to scratch if i painted it first. Im completly building it to a road worthy standared then stripping it down to paint the frame am around half way through the first part.

you have to. like these guys said, build it totally first, then take apart and send out.
when i get home in the winter i will be doing that. removing it all, powdercoating hte frame, then putting back together

Wow! , wasn't expecting to have to do literally the full build before dismantling it again but i guess it makes sense , just aalot more work than i was expexting , however i do want to do a quality build so i guess its worth it in the long run. Any other opinions?

paint it haha
semi flat black spraypaint is my frame. paint as you go.drill a hole, hit it with paint. wait for when you cant drive the open car to do the strip and powdercoating. enjoy it while you can right? PLUS
it lets you make sure all the kinks are worked out, so if you have to move something and make a new hole, you can weld up the old one and be done
just makes sense. part of why motorcycle builders do all the fabbing and mocking before htey paint the frame
