Surely a good time to fit a remote oil/cooler kit, not to expensive £100 or so. Looking good so far. Good luck with the re-test. Where would you put the oil cooler? I just cannot find somewhere in the engine bay where it will get cool air flow

Air flow would be an advantage but the fact that the oil circulates thru the cooler and extra hose length before going back into the engine will remove more heat than it ever would just sitting in the engine.
I'm looking at putting a fan on the cooler, Could even run it from the same relay as the rad fan which is controlled by the ECU.

Now you say that that makes sense I have an 8inch fan I could use coupled with the second fan out put on the ecu..... Now there is a thought!

Well Finally the build is over
After telling Stuart and Julie it would take me 6 months to build, and it ending up taking me nearly 4 years because of family issues and more importantly Laziness the MEV passed IVA yesterday.
Here are the last 2 pictures taken at the test station
Still alot of work to do to get it running perfectly but it is there or thereabouts now time to enjoy driving it
I now need to talk to DVLA to get the plates etc., I have one question for those that have done it, what do I need to get a brand new plate on registering it, looking at the list on the build up inspection sheet, I have new components for everything other than the Gearbox, that was refurbished when I got it but I cant put my hands on the receipt. Even though I originally started with a donor, over the course of the build the parts that came form it are almost Zero, looking at the car yesterday the only things form the donor was the brake reservior, fuel pump and steering wheel!

Congratulations on the pass!
The number plate, is it not down to how the paper work for the test application was filled out? I think you state on there as to whether your trying for an age related or new

Well been to Dvla today
To be fair to them they were very helpful but now all docs been sent to Swansea
I am not sure what plate it will get in the end I provided enough receipts for major components to gain a new plate but .... We all know Dvla's consistency!
Upto 14 days to wait! Before I can get the plates and drive it in anger
Oh well, time to work on other car for a few weeks!

Does anyone know how long it is taking Dvla to process registration paperwork?
I am getting impatient
Great weather and the car stuck in the garage!
I know they have only had since Friday but.... End of summer is coming

TBH.. it depends on which way the wind is blowing.. and alignment of stars within the heavens.
I dont mean to dampen your spirits.. but just be glad when you do get your docs back, and your plate number.
Mine passed in 2nd July, and I got the docs 9th August.
There were hiccups which, despite advanced planning, still bit me in the ass. However, i beleive that this situation is now improved.
Good luck.. and after 14 working days,SINCE POSTAGE they will action a search. This gets you a cal from a supervisor After 24hrs, its escalated
You can, file a complaint using the online form, and its actioed within 2 weeks. After I did this, I got a phone call next day, with the REG number, and FULL docs next few days after, inc V5C.
Id have good cause to go down this route, and i must say, the staff were always VERY helpfull..

I know, but in the olden days I would have had the paperwork done in my local office and walked away with my plates
Improved efficiency in closing local offices I don't think is going to work for me!
At least if they decide to give me new plates it will be a new registration on Sunday!

Well still waiting on DVLA, getting very frustrated
It is now 13days since I went to DVLA office..... and no sign of paoperwork
I cannot even ring them about it until next Thursday as they state 14 working days.
Surely this cannot be progress, that instead of a local office reviewing and giving paperwork almost same day it takes nearly 3 weeks to process.....
