How would a standard mx5 engined exocet compete with a series 1 lotus elise on track. The lotus weighs 725 kg and had just 118 bhp and 0-60 in 5.8 secs. Who would your money be on?

I have often thought about this
My gut feeling is that the Elise would probably be quicker but heart would want it to be the exocet, based on weight and power output i think the exocet should be but I have no idea about gear ratio differences and all of the other aspects
would love to know in reality

depends which engine you use 1.6 90bhp, 1.6 115bhp, 1.8 130bhp or 1.8 140bhp and final weight of the Exocet some are 650kg some 750 I hoping mine will be around 700 with a 1.6 115bhp engine so that will have better bhp per tonne than the Elise and everyone know the mx5 is praised for its excellent handling do I'd like to think an Exocet should.

When I did a trackday at Hullavington a few weeks ago there was an Elise on track and he was going quite well. I was quicker in the 150R though Took me a good few laps to catch him up though.

An awful lot of Elises are tuned in some way too. You'd be hard pushed to find a standard one at a trackday.
