Hi
Having been looking into kit cars and read several of the build diaries on here and the build reports in CKC i've decided I want to build an MEV Exocet. I have limited space and budget and have a few questions before I commit;
1) Would you recommend buying and stipping the MX5 donor before buying the kit? (Due to space issues) 2) What books/guides/manuals would you recommend to help with the strip down of the MX5? 3) Any other adivce before buying the kit?
Thanks
Stephen

Hi Steve, welcome to the board, i would recommend you buy the donor first, it is far easier to build the exocet when all the stripdown work has been finished and the shell scrapped. First reason space, 2, you wont transplant stuff to quickly as may happen if your frame is there staring at you. A manual is a must, not so much for stipping down but more for rebuilding. I stripped my donor down with minimal tools and no manual, but did photo and list everything in detail during the strip. The only advice i can give based on my own strip/rebuild is buy a good donor dont rush, clean everything as you go, sell what you dont need and then order your kit about 6 weeks before you need it. Most of all enjoy it, a kit car becomes part of you, its your thoughts and visons that make it what it is. Steve

Hi Steve
Thanks for the welcome and the advice, I did think photographing everything would be a great idea. I'm not in any rush at all so I will be taking my time and wont be doing any thing until the new year.
