First off hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have just got my self a new car and my current Ford Focus is not worth selling, because of this I would like to use this as the donor car for the build.
My car has the 1.6 Zetec s engine NOT THE SE.
I recently sent a email to MEV who said it was possible to use this engine although some modifications would be required, as the frame has now been redesigned for a 1.8 or 2.0 only.
Does anyone know what would modifications would be needed to mount the engine? Would it be only engine mounts that would need to be modified or would the frame need modifications?
If the frame needs modifying then I may forget the build, but if its mounts then that would be fine. This is just in case later I choose to upgrade the engine.
Also would any other modifications or additional parts be required apart from rear disc's and gear linkage.
ANY help, information and especially pictures of people who have already gone through this would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance
Steve

That should not prove to be a major job, the mounts are similar for all Focus engines but not the same. I modified the Rocket chassis engine mounts recently to lower the engine. This is now standard production. The SE or S engine requires the torsion mount (this is attached to the bottom of the tranny) position to be modified, this can be done by making a bracket to adapt to the standard chassis mount or by cutting the one off the chassis and moving it slightly. It is the angle mainly that changes when you lower the engine. The top mounts can remain as standard but may need spacer tubes or a stack of washers to get the lump level.

Is there anyone or anywhere you can by the modified mounts from. That would save a lot of hastle then lol.
It's a shame you can't by a modified mount direct so the chassis could then accept all engine sizes.
Thanks for the reply
