I had a failed attempt at removing the shell today mainly down to the fact that it was only me working on it so instead of having a wasted day in the 'workshop' i decided to have more of an in depth look at things such as the brake set up, engine etc etc mainly to become more familiar with it all and to increase my non existant mechanical knowledge.
whilst doing this a few bits that i werent sure of cropped up.....
first off is the pipe work that fed the heaters. i had disconnected these on the engine side and removed the heater unit but what happens to the redundant pipework? do i trace this back to a certain point and just cut it off?

not entirely sure what you mean but i remember the the heater pipes poke thru the bulkhead once the rubber pipes were disconnected can be pulled out. the same rubber pipes can be left on the engine as they will be used to 'bypass' the heater circuit to feed it back round the engine.
so what were you intending to cut off??
it would be well worth your while getting the rod's enthusiast guide, i'm a mechanic, but still referred to it on many occassions

the two heater pipes can be blanked off, but the best suggestion is to loop them together as it improves the water flow around the engine. just trim a piece of the original hose and loop it between the two. most of the questions you'll have will be covered off in some of the earlier builds, its a lot quciker spending an avo scanning some of the builds and answering a whole heap of questions than waiting for us lazy bods to reply on the forum! :-)

Thanks for the replies guys. Frustration had taken over last night, looking back it would have been wise to search the builds before posting questions. Strangely enough it was on your build thread this morning alex that i noticed the looping of the pipes.

i didnt do the best job of looping, it kept kinking! aways best to ask anything your unsure of though, saves damaging/trashing a vital part! I'm on number two and trying to remeber how i did it all on number 1! memory of a goldfish sometimes....
