Hi I'm a new member so please go easy.
It seems that the Rocket and Exocet are in competition for a race series?
I have read on your website that the Exocet will be available as race car and have it's own grids within Nippon Challenge ran by Red Dragon Race & Track Club Ltd - 14 rounds per year approx.
Or the Rocket which can be raced in the 750mc Allcomers or kitcar class - possibly having it's own grid if the numbers grow enough?
So the question is which race series are you supporting and has there been any difference in interest in one or the other? Plus what will the actual costs be for each race car?
Also to complicate matters further I see there is a new lightweight version of the Exocet - will this be able to race in the new series? as I thought they were going to be fairly restricted to keep things fair? or will wings etc. and other developments be allowed?
Really interested in the Exocet - especially if the cars are near enough identical giving everyone a fair shot at winning.
Great looking cars hope to own one soon.
David

Very good questions Dave. It would be unfair and probably inaccurate for anyone with the exception of either Stuart Mills - MEV or Paul/Leighton - RTR to comment, thus I would very much encourage them to enlighten us all. nigel

You can opt for Atomic or Sonic or Exocet or Rocket to race, in the 750 mc class they would all be welcome subject to roll bar etc. The MX150R will have it's own grid, the lightweight Exocet will not be allowed in that series. It is however perfectly suited to the 750mc kit car class D which is for cars up to 340 bhp per ton. The race Exocet kit (MX150R) is only £3000 inc full cage, steel floors and rear nudge bar, there is also a special deal on race fee's for newcomers to ma5daracing.com They are about to launch the series so please watch their site for updates. Which ever MEV you chose will give you excellent value for money racing. One other option is to buy a standard Exocet and upgrade it later to MX150R spec when you have done a few track days. We would supply it ready to bolt a cage in.

I really like the idea of the MX150R. How would I go about getting to try one out in the coming months? Will you being doing any test days where I could drive it for session? or some testing at bruntingthorpe/simalar? I have already raced a little - Caterhams for a year and a year doing Formula Vee - both I enjoyed immensly - so i wouldn't buy a none race one and I will definitely would want to build it myself so I would know how to run and repair it . The kit is 3k but am i guessing right? the control wheels, Gaz shocks, control tyres, transponders, VAT, race seat and harnesses will be extra? If so excluding the belts how much would these compents cost or are they to sourced from some where else? and is there welding needed for HANS and how much extra for that and if needs to be done once complete to be set up properly? Also as I'm a complete new boy at this how much would getting the engine up to spec cost (skimming heads mentioned) and could it be refreshed sensibly at home or is it more specialist than that? Sorry so many questions - there will be many more....... PS some problem with the spell checker so sorry for the bad speeling...

Hi, it's best to cotact www.ma5daracing.com re rules/control tyres etc and ask when you can try a car on a track. A head skim is all that we did to our car, it flies when you take 50 thou off! Can't see any speeling errors. Some info on www.mevltd.co.uk and salesman contact man dettils. Thats me!

A head skim is all that we did to our car, it flies when you take 50 thou off! Been doing a bit of research into this head skimming lark.....some sites claim that you need to change all manner of other components when you start taking any more than 0.004" off - do you have a view on this? Kinda figured that if my head gasket is on the way out (which it could be, based on the amount of steam that comes out of the exhaust when ticking over ), then a head skim would be a no-brainer. But, if it's okay (or treatable with Steel Seal) then not too sure that the cost and effort involved in ripping half the engine apart is justifiable. Any thoughts much appreciated.
